Albedo circa '04. The middle panel is an asteroid mining operation. The part on the left is the solar collectors that do the smelting of material, the part in the middle it a spun habitat.

I actually don't have a lot of experiance with Niven's work, and what little I do is thirty years or more ago.

I was curious because you both took a close path on tech - more or less based on science or extrapolating out what science might look like without getting all 'Star Trek'. Good stuff either way!

Other than the technique for fusion and "jump" for intersellar travel, I've pretty much kept to tech as we know it and avoided the deus ex machina style magic tech.

Oh yeah, the collectors remind me of the mercury boilers they dreamed up for VonBraun wheel stations etc, before we discovered the magic of photovoltaics. Still a good design if you're close enough to the sun.
