John has a sore leg but still wants to get on stage and perform anyway. It's totally understandable that Riz would wish to prevent his husband from over-exerting himself.
AHH!!! It's back to the birthday worship motif with John the mouse and his husband Riz. It seems birthdays are the ultimate, number one most important concept within John's worldview, haha. Even if it means making his husband worried out of his mind.
I wish John would be willing to understand how terribly worried Riz is feeling about the whole 'public performance' situation, being that John has an injured leg.
It's kind of scary how Riz threatens Bill with violence if John injures himself in the very scheme that John wanted to have happen in the first place. Such is the menacing glare of love.
What a beautiful moment to have John sing so elegantly for Riz. I would suggest Ville Valo's song "Loveletting" as an equal tour de force for the wayward lover.
Riz shows us the depth of his love by rushing the stage and singing along with John which was a wonderful touch. The ending makes perfect sense, too, as John gets to rightfully admit that he promised he wouldn't dance.
Bravo Werty, I loved this one. The ending was deliciously on-point and very unexpected.

Yeah, I would also point you towards Ville Valo's song Run Away From The Sun, which I believe has the most beautiful male vocals ever recorded. If My Mate ever gets turned into an anime series, that would be the perfect opening song, and his other song Love Letting would be the closing credits song. They are both sung in english, even though Ville is from Finland. I will certainly try to listen to Alla Pugacheva's song "Love is like a Dream" if I can find it hopefully.
