Astro RIP 2009-2023
Yesterday, Dec 10 I lost my friend beast due to kidney failure.
I will miss him greatly and I hope I gave him one hell of a good life. I found him back in 2009, in a litter of a feral cat of a worksite I routinely worked at. He didn't even have his eyes open at that time. I let the manager of the property know as we kept them safe until they were old enough and I took one of the two orange ones in the group. He was so small and helpless and I had to help him learn to eat from a bowl. We grew together. He helped me in my lowest times, being there when I needed him most. When I started life over again, I never gave up and picked myself up to make sure he was safe and cared for.
There was nothing I could have done, I know when you take in a pet you take on inevitable heartbreak, but it never hurts any less. There is a hole in the universe where he was, a cold spot beside my pillow where he slept and a food dish which now will remain empty.
Thank you for everything my little guy. Rest well.

Damn it...and this happened right on the day of when a certain game series called DOOM turns 30.
I'm really sorry it came to this. But just know that your cat passed away, knowing he had a very loving and caring owner looking after him. You stood by him, even during the darkest of times.

My condolences to you on Astro's passing. They say we are the ones that provide a home for a pet, but it is them who provide us a shelter when we are emotionally lost. Your pillow is not empty, for Astro is still there. It may not seem like it at first, but your kitty is not gone, and he never will be, for his spirit will be there for you everywhere.
