It is. Just people keep being stupid and recommending later episodes which aren't nearly as enjoyable unless you've watched the not-as-good-but-very-important character development episodes earlier on. Yes, the ponies have personalities and entire episodes dedicated to fleshing them out as characters, which is something not seen in Western Animation since the 90's..

Err, yeah. And EquestriaDaily.com and Ponychan.net have various episodes, commentary, downloads, and so on. Ponibooru is great if you simply want images (ponibooru.413chan.net), but it's literally an image dump site so you have to either know what you want to look at or browse around a bunch to find the gold..
This series just plain makes me happy, in a way I haven't felt since.. well, Slayers; another series I love to death and that recently made a comeback too.. :)
