I couldn’t decide which side of this MG MGA to post, then I thought: Why not both? It may be a trick of the lighting or the camera angle, but the lettering on the “1600 Mk II” badge seems weightier to me in the top photo. My best guess is this Mk II was manufactured between 1960 and 1962.

I have to admit that I am not as much of a fan of British marques as I am of American, partly because many British cars were such unimaginable pieces of junk. That said, I knew a guy who lived on the Welsh marches who had an XJ 12, and I asked him how he kept it running (as it has Lucas wiring, the reason the Brits drink warm beer as Lucas also does wiring for refrigerators), and he looked confused. He said he had had the car for years, and never had an electrical problem. Maybe the solution is to never let the wiring dry out...
I always meant to get to this one eventually; sometimes it takes a while!
I love the composition of this one -- the strong horizontal / diagonal motif is very cool, and the idea of presenting the chrome emblems on both sides of the car together like this is even better. I'm surprised that I never thought of it, and I'll probably steal it in the future... ;)
