About a year ago I wrote a funny article for a friend's fanzine. After a few months, I began to pester him about when he was going to publish. He said, "in the Fall." Fall came and went, Spring is around the corner, and finally I asked if he thought he might publish the piece by June? He said he didn't think so. July, I asked? He explained that he didn't have enough material to fill an issue.

I'm not a patient writer. I like instant gratification, and when I have to wait over a year I'm not happy. I offered the guy a rain check, instead. Whenever he thought he was ready to publish he could ask me to write something new. Meanwhile, I would contribute the piece somewhere else.

A while later, I thought it would be funny to send him an actual "rain check." Here it is.
