The way I see it, is that furries aren't "animals with human characteristics", but the opposite: They're humans! With animal characteristics.
Furries in art/stories/etc. have jobs, boyfriends, girlfriends, a house, drive cars, have phones, wear jeans, etc.
The animal characteristics in those humans, is simply because it is what we have around us that looks cool! Tails are cool, ears are cool, fluff is cool, it all looks dope and fun! So we wear them, in real life (as coats or fursuits or leather or ceremonial horns or whatever), and in these fantasies too! In the form of "anthros"
