Recently I had a dream where my family was going to a fancy restaurant where the tables were installed in a series of medieval courtyards. Unfortunately, it was raining heavily... After waking up, I though about other fancy dining experiences like a cabaret where round tables tend to be used. This facilites communication between guests during the meal, but leads to circulation bottlenecks between tables and half the guests facing away from the spectacle. I think that U- and L-shaped tables would be more suited for this context, with simplified service and better visibility.
