...And Her Vines Shall Strangle the Universe's Core
So! I drew Nepron in the last post, but I also haven't ever even really illustrated "Mother" in a long time either!
For those who don't know and the abridged version of it is that, Mother is the main antagonist of the "Cycle 9" arc in Skin to Scales and is the mother of Aellea, creator of the Eda Sap and the leader of the Hemlocks.
Her motives to the main cast are obtuse, but it seems she only wishes to sow chaos and grow off the soil that's now littered with corpses. That way her vines may strangle the universe down to its very coils until she encompasses all. Until she is the only thing left in her universe as well as her offspring so she may grow and expand to the greater multiverse until she conquers all. An extremely ambitious plan, and one that's quite literally hundreds of thousands of years in the making. She is meant to be a "False Tiamat" as she has the vague similarities of a mandrake, but this is false. Her species are known as "Chaos Beast" or "Shadow Beast" in the setting. These creatures are part of the Flexile family and are known for the shapeshifting qualities to blend into their environment and its native population. Thomza upon learning her intentions knows this is not the first planet she has devoured, and it certainly won't be the last. So, it is up to Thomza, Aellea, and the entirety of Leafscale and Commander Proto's excavation team to take her on and the Hemlocks, all the while meeting many brand-new factions along the way, both friend and foe.
For her design I really wanted to go with something way more complex, one that really shows she acts like a plant, and thinks like a plant. Having very "basic" motives, but is still terrifyingly cunning, nonetheless. Her personality is cruel, crass, to the point, and she will walk on as many people as she needs to achieve her goal. There is also the added bits of random space-junk to her to increase her combat capabilities. Unfortunately for all her power, they are a detriment, but are for intimidation nonetheless for all the races that inhabit the planet? They have no access to such technology...

Disclaimer and Copyright: These characters involved, and the artwork belongs to me, TwistedHensley. The Skin to Scales Universe also belongs to me there, TwistedHensley... You get the drill. I want to point out that this is an Epic Dark Fantasy setting with a lot of mythological and religious tones and that there is no real-life connection to any of these events, religions, characters and it is fully, grounded, in fantasy. There is no copyright infringement also intended to other forms of media as Skin to Scales is meant to be its own thing and something I've been working on for a very long time. This is the same setting where faith is a massive part of the magic system, and it is usually meant to have a very bright and colorful art style to help balance the tone.
