Another OC for the Guardians of the Garden arc. This one is Grendel, "iconebonyleopard: 's own version of a displacer beast that inhabit Eden. These guys were only featured briefly in the comics and with very few noticeable features at the time which made them almost look like shadow creatures. Considering they were completely naked, Ebonyleopard also had to take care in making sure their bodies weren't too exposed so I suppose that factored into it all. It's one of the reason why this design came out as such a surprise and I love it to bits!

For a little backstory, Grendel is an orphan who was left behind by his biological parents during their tribe's invasion of Warwolf pack territory that goes horribly wrong. He is discovered by a Warwolf couple from such pack, who have been unable to have any children of their own, and take pity on him. They adopt him, much to their pack's dismay, and raise them as their own. Grendel has grown up isolative and quiet due to a long life of suspicion and scorn from his fellow tribesman and surrounding populace at large with his race's social standing. As much as he tries to uphold the skill and control of a wolfpack warrior, being of a race of creatures that are known for their short tempers and ferocity, he finds himself easily provoked and emotionally compromised which leads his peers to loath and fear him even more. Despite this, his heart is in the right place and he strives to fight for the honor of his family, forever grateful for their kindness even despite the hardships he must face. It is because of their love and support for him that he continues to try and show the pack and Eden society as a whole that he can be different than the Displacer tribes and gangs that prey on neighboring settlements and travelers.
