It was explicitly stated that they had a good relationship when they were younger. There could be some level of romantic feelings there, even if they're not reciprocated by Miralle--and I doubt there aren't some also on Miralle's side as well, considering the way she reacted to the Tree bringing it up.
Even lingering memories of 'puppy love' from childhood could make Leo willing to give some level of respect to what she has to say, which we've seen him do even before the knighting ceremony. The fact that she was adopted by the Tree as a daughter could serve as a convenient way to hide his actual feelings, because with his personality, I really don't believe that anyone other than the Tree herself could have had enough weight in what they had to say to get him to comply with a direct order not to kill Nigel when not moments prior he was most-likely already committed to doing just that before Miralle and Chili showed up.

I wonder if this will work out in Tristans favor in a sort of 'accidental training' kind of way. Similar to how in kung-fu movies it's stuff like carry these buckets of water up this mountain of stairs and that gives the student the endurance or leg power needed for later.
Here's hoping, don't want the innocent monkey suffering to be for naught.

"We are a dysfunctional team, I suggest adding difficulty with two people can't fight and one blind and not taking a mount!"
Yes, they were asked to travel on foot but I have the impression at the moment that this only adds an additional burden, they would not even be tempted to flee if attacked.

Then...stop reading the comic, because you're being hella disrespectful to the artist who is a real person creating this for people's enjoyment. Remember that saying, "If you can't say anything nice, don't say anything?" Maybe...there was some wisdom in that. This isn't twitter. Nobody wants to see this raging.
Maybe you should heed your own advice. In my opinion, you're coming of as overly aggressive and patronizing right now. You don't know me and I don't know you. And I do not really understand what exactly your problem is or what you're trying to achieve even right now. You could have easily just ignored my comment or use a less aggresive tone, which is not meant to be offensive. I am not intending to rage nor start any conflict, if that's your impression. A lot of people here make comments, where some voice strong emotions regarding some characters, their personality and decisions which are not always positive. Do you intend to voice your oppinion on all of them too? Sometimes even if something might seem like it, it's actually not always meant to be disprectfull. My comment came from a state of confussion for example. But you didn't even give me a chance to explain anything or maybe to even appologize if it came off wrong. You just assumed something and went with it. Did you never had a bad day? Been tired? Or made some mistake? Or chose your words poorly without realizing it? If it is disprectful, than I apologize, it was not meant to be.
It is the nature of written conversations that we often do not see the intent, where it is difficult to judge what someone actually wants to say and and thus often assume what someone's motivations might be. I am sure you're well intended with your coment. But it's sometimes good to take a step back in such situations and think, do I really need to comment? Doese it really warrant such an answer? Maybe sometimes even just asking what someone means can go a long way. Or can I just ignore it. Maybe give some slack. It saves me a lot of frustration, trouble and drama.
Anyway. I have no intention on really giving this more thought now. Have a nice day.

Yes, you were being disrespectful. To the artist, to me, and everyone else reading the content, and the characters the artist is creating.
Apologies are done with actions. That is, withholding comments until you actually have context instead of immediately running to the comments and talking about how the blind character needs to be put on a leash like an animal and dragged around is insanely disrespectful to the storytelling in progress.
Ask yourself if you'd say that to someone telling you a story in person that they created to entertain people with. If the answer is no, you shouldn't say it on a text comment online either.

I get that Nigel is blind... but can he seriously not even walk while holding on to someone? Give him a walking stick to tap ahead with and lead him carefully? Make some kind of shoulder strap thing he can sit in so he isn't literally choking the nicest character in the group for miles at a time? I'm sure there's some dynamic here I'm not aware of yet, other than Nigel getting to be an asshole 100% of the time, and the other one getting shit on 24/7, but maybe it can get changed? These guys might not be in agreement with each other, but they're not all stupid, are they?
That doesn't work on grass, firstoff, and they're in the wilderness. Again with the leash thing like Nigel isn't a person that deserves fundamental respect. Might as well give him a ball and chain too, skip the character development, he's just an asshole.
Everyone else is dumb too, lets just throw that in on top of it. Have you read a single book where characters didn't all worship each other right away ended up becoming friends later after overcoming shared difficulties? Maybe that's what's going to happen.

I have to shut you down on the whole thing on walking sticks not working on grass. I have friends who are visually impaired, and one of them is completely blind. Walking sticks work perfectly fine off of pavement. She is able to navigate well enough, with the guidance of well-attentive people around her, during off-trail nature hikes through grass, brush, on sand, and even along rocks so long as we are letting her know of things in her way that could cause her to get hurt. She is never a hindrance to our pace, even when somebody needs to physically lead her through a particularly tough spot.
The group, right now, is just a D&D party comprised of your average Reddit users. Everyone is being a petty asshole because everyone else is being one. Except Tristan. Tristan is trying to be nice.

Hm, good point... I know, I'll take my blind friends to a golf course and let you know if they roll an ankle skipping across it like in the Sound of Music!
I live in the fucking Mojave, we usually go hiking through one of the 'forests' around here, or around the mountains. If not that, then we go out to Kelso, the beach, or the Bishop Tuff. Pretty sure they could handle strolling across an Idyllic Grassland without any issue other than boredom.

And I'm sure if you could read, you would have caught when I said that my completely blind friend is, to fucking quote myself, "[...] able to navigate well enough, with the guidance of well-attentive people around her[...]".
Go hiking sometime. I'd say being in a wheelchair would be the only excuse not to, but that was before Chris Layne climbed a mountain in one. Stop being an ableist.

Walking on grass with a cane and someone with a hand on your shoulder wouldn't work...? o.o; How bad do you think it is to be blind, exactly? And this is coming from someone who wears glasses, is basically blind without them, and is developing cataracts. Yes, him being blind would require someone to pay attention to him; maybe have him walk alongside them with them watching him so he didn't stub his toe on every rock and root, and to warm him of upcoming inclines and such so he would be ready for them. But they do NOT need to CARRY him everywhere like a sack of potatoes.
Your second, rather odd blurb about 'everyone is dumb' is off too. Where did I say that? I said 'they're NOT all stupid, are they?' as in 'they can think of more sensible ways to handle the situation, right?' I'm thinking maybe you took that line out of context there. Literally carrying someone around on your back who is perfectly capable of walking with some assistance is silly, and having that person actively choking their carrier while it's being done and not doing anything to prevent it is just weird and cruel. Do you not agree?

In the wilderness.
In hilly terrain.
For weeks.
Walking across someone's yard would be easy with help.
Walking through a full, untamed prairie or a hilly Savannah would be next to impossible unless you'd have an absolute full lifetime or a path to follow. That's hard enough for able bodied people to get through for hours at a time. Much less a kid who just lost his vision what, three weeks earlier?

This character has a brand new disability. That takes a load of time to get to terms with, I know this because it took me 20+ years to figure out a way to deal with my own disability and to learn my own limits. I'd still be learning if I were in Nigel's position, and I'd be angry, hesitant to try new things, and afraid, thus fueling the anger more. I don't know how else to describe my position when I've described it that simply, this many times. It feels like you're intentionally twisting what I say to jab it back into me, like I don't know anything about disabilities. People who have them from birth have to take years of their formative life learning how to deal with it. People who lose their vision gradually likewise have a time to learn how to use a cane.
That their friend is capable of navigating a desert is awesome...but that isn't Nigel. And its a skill that not many people in their position would even have. That takes a really special kind of person, not someone who just got blinded weeks earlier. Lets be generous and say five, or six. Is two months enough to learn how to navigate a wilderness alone with a cane they just got that isn't a standard length, with nobody to teach him? That's probably what the character's arc will be about for a great deal of time.

I'm not starting this with a second person. I said what I said, and there's a whole list of comments above explaining that no, it's not all that hard to walk when blind and with someone warning you of that' wild terrain littered with grass, clumps of earth and branches'. This is what being guided means: that someone is helping you to avoid those things. But feel free to think as you wish. I'm done arguing with people over it.
