Samaya is quite lucky. She was very nearly cut in half, but thanks to the marvel of modern medicine/science, she only lost an arm and a breast. She's still trying to cope with it, since every morning she wakes up with it is another reminder of her violent near death experience. This coupled with the feeling that her prosthesis makes her unattractive and unwanted has left quite a mark on her spirit, but she soldiers on. She could have retired from active duty, but she chose not to.
