Character
Endi grew up under the waves of Atlantis in the local merpeople community. Atlantis had been hidden away from the wider world for many centuries, but that didn't stop the young seahorse's curiosity. Even as a young kid, he wanted to have a good look at how life was on land. His parents told him he should wait until he has good control over Land Swimming magic, that allows him to swim on land, close to the ground. But Endi could hardly wait; he managed to get himself a wheelchair and explored the Atlantian archipelago that way. It wasn't the most comfortable way of getting around, but he definitely wanted to see more of it, and the outside world as well. It drove him to master Land Swimming much quicker than his peers by frequent training.Fortunately for him, when he was 15, Atlantis finally revealed itself openly to the world after First Contact with Earth. He finally could make the trips around the world, as long as his parents and school would allow it. However, the arrival of aliens on Earth made him see there's a whole bigger world to explore for him: outer space. He signed up for the Starfleet Academy to get a job on any spaceship. They found he was very good at intuitively thinking in 3D and assigned him to the pilot education program. He succeeded with flying colours, the first merperson to ever graduate on the piloting program. His first assignment was to be a shuttle pilot of the Pioneer. He was one of the very few mers on board, but the diversity of its crew made him stand out less.
Because most people haven't come into contact with merpeople, a lot of misconceptions still exist about them, to Endi's annoyance. He often corrects people when he hears some of those inaccurate stories about his people. He also has a pair of mechanical plantigrade legs that help him move easier and faster on the ship. He likes to take things in a relaxed way, and doesn't like to hurry, or even the activity of running itself...
