So this month (December) and the past (November), I have been in a huge mood for masks (anyone who knows me enough knows that I love masks and I mean full on masks especially the decorative kind and or used for even stuff such as plays or shows or used as part of some costume or event.) Even at the last con I encountered some neat ones haha nonetheless so here we are now, Vichram having his own proper mask (even though he had one a bit earlier) and the Eel also has one (only in the three dimensional space however.) Kerax might eventually get one too who knows and oh there's also a new character coming along but not in the usual form.
"The obsession of some of these wyrms, drawn to masks have spurred interesting creations as some consist of random parts found all around or only materials of interest yet despite what is crafted they always do something different. Clearly they're bored with wearing an emotionless-face (or even a fixed one) so they decided to animate them, if not at least partially as if they were puppeteers to the intricate moving parts whether it's parlor tricks or magic at hand we're not sure though it makes them a lot more lively compared to a few simple states of expressions visually. There hasn't been enough consistency to really find any trend or a 'shared' tradition other than the gathering, crafting, wearing, and acting out in of itself".
Critters as old as these get bored too perhaps though what they imitate at times does not resemble anything I can think of, recollect, or have read of and seem purely fictional.
Additional details to note: Rare on occasion some of these masks feature practical use and utility ranging from lenses over the eyes to augment (or protect vision against dust), varying levels of protection from physical (mechanical) attacks, and even insulation against the elements.
