Damn.. why didn't I think of this earlier.. my favorite "colors" are Red and Black. I am sure this needs a lot more work.. but this already feels a lot more like home than the previous color scheme.

Did you take a 3D model and trace lines over it? Whatever you did makes it look 100% more awesome.

The outer lines were actually the beginning. You can see the line drawing as my profile picture. but then I made a proxy 3d model with a rough head shape and used the scale linework as a bumpmap. So yeah.. the reflection/highlight is 3d rendered.

I put the image on a flat piece of mesh and then raised the areas that seemed to need it.. definitely not realistic.. but it seems to do the trick.

Not really a full model, It is more like a manual emboss effect. I only used it for the gloss.
