This is based on something I actually witnessed from my own apartment window one night after Christmas last year - I saw a raccoon dragging a half-eaten panettone (one of those big, Italian cakes that go on sale every holiday season) out of the trash bins by its fancy wrapper. Dragged the whole thing out of the garbage area, presumably back home for his own holiday dinner.
It was a little late at the time to put it up, but I tucked it away in my head for another holiday season.
