Some art to go along a fairy tale I wrote for world building:
One day, a hunter brought news of a white unicorn wandering the steppe around the village. Right the next day, the village farrier went out to catch the beast and train it as his mount. He searched for it for 3 days and 3 nights but didn’t even catch a glimpse of it and returned to the village. The day after, the healer went out to take the beasts horn and claws to make tinctures and medicine. He searched for 3 days and 3 nights, but was only able to take a single glance at it and returned to the village. The next day, an old woman went out to collect the beasts hair for spinning. She searched for it for 3 days and 3 nights but could only touch it once and returned to the village.
In the village also lived a blind girl named Capella, who spent all her days in the steppe. One day Capella became lost, and after wandering for 3 days and 3 nights, she could no longer walk. Just when she was giving up hope, the unicorn appeared and invited her on his back. After just a short while, they arrived at the village. All the villagers were awed at the beauty of the creature, but Capella just thanked the unicorn and wished it farewell.
It’s said that the Capellas unicorn still wanders the steppes to this day.

fun fact: Unicorns in Europe weren't "docile and cute" horses, but fierce and destructive and only a virginal woman could tame one, which explains why Scotland's national animal is an unicorn and in the coat of arms is represented by a chained unicorn, for the "image" that Scottish gave to the English.
With that said, your piece made me think that: Only Capella, who didn't want to harm the unicorn, could "tame" it. It makes the piece quite beautiful in that sense.

Yeah, Im absolutely in love with that depiction! They fulfil a similar niche in my worldbuilding. Unicorns are basically hard counters to magic. The 2 species that live in the steppe really only have to worry about stealth hunters and large flying predators (that rely on magic to get extra lift). So in actually they take dragon out of the skies on the regular hehe.
The fairy tale was mainly the explanation behind one of the species common name "Capellas unicorn" and therefore mystifies the whole thing a bit more >:D

beautiful work and cool fairy tale! I like how each person gets closer to the unicorn than the last - the guy who wants to dominate and control the beast doesn't even see it, the one who wants to use it to heal people, though at the unicorn's expense, can see it but not catch it, and the old woman who wants to spin with its hair, which probably wouldn't require hurting it, is able to at least touch it once. none of them are really successful in making contact until the blind girl who needs help and truly has no ulterior motive, but it seems the unicorn can judge how each person is going to treat it and why they're looking for it
