a telepath can "sense" people's Odkraft (aka the life force) and Anima (aka the soul). when surrounded by demon flesh, naturally that would make it harder for someone to make out Jimmy in the middle of that.
telepathy has limited reach as far as distance goes in general, and how far that distance is can vary from telepath to telepath. there are other ways to disrupt psychic abilities, like certain talismans and demon powers.
