cinema projector doesn't light up the movie screen any more
Taken in my living room, where an old cinema projector tops my deco. It's from the early 20th and maybe don't work any more (but I'm not willed to test it...and light up my flat in fire). Nevertheless I added 2 reels and installed a film in it.
Now it was time to bring it to light again - with a flash
wireless fired Flash with Power = 3Ws
Mode: M / MF (manual Shut./Apert.) / (manual Focus)
ISO: 100
focal: 30mm
exp: 1/200s
F= 22

Hey Coon,
I'm an electronic enigneer, I KNOW which part of the projector is critical over the years. Back in the 20th, when the projector was prduced, the different line voltages were adjusted thru a big, changeable, resistor. The material, which the resistor is build of, is subject of aging. It's "still working" at the moment, cause of 50years of non-usage, but if I will set it on line, it will eventually melt like an old light bulb. :-/
So: rather a "working" but untestet device than a testet but blowen

Oh, I see. Yeah, a lot of the old stuff has depreciated as they came out with better methods over the years. Sadly, you can't swap out the old ones for parts that are more efficient, since they weren't made backward compatible. Though honestly, you'd be hard pressed to find film reels for it to use, even if you did get it working.
well, with would-not-calculate costs it may be possible (replacing the resistor by a phase-cutting triac with snubber afterwards), but thats not my goal.
If you look closely on the full-res picture, you will find eventually a film onto the reel (and going into the projector to the right-bottom). I have already about 100m of 16mm film and nearly 350m of 35mm film in my archives. but its more or less, as the projector itselfs, for deco purpose ;) (not that I haven't testet to project 16mm films with another projector...who actually got on fire, cause of a dying resistor, even with a variable transformer in front and undervoltage). *gggg*
