Finished Part 2! Two more parts to go. Things are heating up! Is it weird to end a story on a cliffhanger? I honestly wasn't sure. I doubt I'll have the next part up before the new year but I'll try my best to not make anyone hang from this cliff for too long!

Yeah combat thrives in THICK description. Actually combat happens in seconds, but to write it what is happening and that action with reaction needs to exist. Something gets hit their is a reaction. That is the key for writing good combat. Not saying they fight, but showing the fighting. And don't monologue in the fighting. If you do you will have to break it down via a lot of that short controlled action bursts.
