Wasn't sure if I would ever get around to bringing this girl over to Silicon City from the roster of RP characters but eh, I was shown some of the things
leamur's Ironhand could do and subsequently saw a powerset I couldn't help but be fascinated with.
And for those who followed me from the fatfur community, yes this is the same Cheng Pan Lee who founded the MSL. However, I'm fairly certain the League will not be following her into this universe.
Cheng Pan Lee and the Silicon City universe is © Psion 2010-2011
Character Name: Cheng Pan Lee
Species: Giant Panda
Gender: Female
Age: 24
Height: 6'1"
Weight: 341 lbs
Hair: White, shoulder length, often worn in a bun
Eye Color: Green
Orientation: Heterosexual
Nationality: Chinese
World of Origin: Silicon Earth
Political Leaning: Unregistered
Metabeing classification: Psycho-material manipulation
Physical Description: A tall, plump panda female with a fairly balanced stocky physique. Five-toed feet lead up to thick legs, plump hips, and a plush round rump. Her torso boasts a soft "bear belly" and generous double D cup breasts. Around her arms, the layer of body fat is thinner, revealing toned muscle nestled under a slim coating of blubber.
Fur pattern is fairly typical of her species, jet-black "socks" extend up to her knees and forearms before surrendering to snow white hips, belly, and upper arms. Her soft breasts and upper black are covered in another splotch of black, leading to a white neck and head only contrasted by a pair of black eye patches.
Personality: Raised in a conservative Chinese household, Cheng's dominant personality traits reflect her upbringing. Timid, meek, and generally submissive towards males, she has begun to display a more relaxed, confident personality as she spends more time with her adoptive people.
Generally speaking, she likes her new home in the United States despite occasionally having trouble adjusting to the difference between Eastern and Western cultures.
The only aspect of her new home that particularly bemuses her is the trouble many American bears go through to defeat their metabolism. To Cheng, being round is not something to be proud or ashamed of, it is merely an ursine's natural state of being. That being said, food and eating indulgently is often the panda's one true vice and a frequently enjoyed sedative for the horrible nightmares lingering from her flight from China.
Despite being constantly surrounded by incidents of corruption and misery throughout her life; Cheng does not see herself as "hero material," more content with hiding her powers and living a quiet life then fighting evil. Only time and the continued whims of fate will tell if that opinion changes.
Biography: Born in the "Rice Belt" of China, very little of interest marked Cheng's birth. With females becoming exempt from the country's "One Child" ruling a few years before, Lee's future at the very least would not end in a Chinese orphanage or being shipped overseas to Western parents. Unfortunately, it was still not a particularly happy one. Her father was a deeply traditional male, including his views on the opposite sex, but still a good man at heart. Unfortunately an accident with a tractor on the community's collectivist farm would end his life, causing Cheng and her brother to work in order to support their ailing mother. It was at this point that the young panda would discover her gift for metalworking.
Unbeknownst to her this was in part an early manifestation of her powers. Steel and iron just seemed to bend like clay in her hands. Gradually she would begin to learn techniques to enhance her rudimentary abilities with actual knowledge, earning her the attention of a party official eager to improve productivity in his district who offered her the opportunity to enroll in a technical school.
Reluctant to leave her mother and ridiculed by her extended family for daring to seek an education, she accepted the official's offer anyway and left for the nearest city. Despite a lack of acceptance from the male members of the student body, Cheng excelled at her studies in machining, die casting, and general metalworking. While her gradually awakening powers were partially responsible for this aptitude, she also possessed a perfectly mundane talent for the field.
Regretfully, this life was not to last. When she returned with a degree in her hand and a full knowledge of metal craft, she discovered that her village had changed for the worst. The official that had recommended her for technical school had been promoted and transferred to another district, leaving a corrupt subordinate to run things as the new administrator of her village. Using the community's lack of contact with the rest of China and his troop of loyal cronies, the new administrator was able to levy new quotas on the village.
Unbeknownst to Cheng at the time, the additional grain was being privately shuffled into the mayor's private stores instead of being shipped to the city. As winter settled on her village, the village began to starve. That same winter, Cheng's mother's illness took a turn for the worst. As her brother struggled to find work, Cheng and he reluctantly switched roles. Armed with new knowledge, the panda returned to the village metal shop and slowly began to establish herself as a skilled artisan.
Yet a good pay did nothing against the shortages in the village stores and more then once did quarrels break out for the meager stocks that remained. While reluctant to fight, Cheng was still a fairly wide woman with some very strong arms from lifting steel all day and a very deep sense of duty towards her immediate family. Anyone that wanted to steal her family's daily rations answered to her fist and dealt with the sting of being beaten by a female.
Eventually her activities would attract the attention of the village mayor. While he definitely considered her to be a troublemaker, he also saw the potential of having her in his retinue of thugs and connivers. Cheng was promptly summoned to the village hall and presented to the district official. There she was given the opportunity to work alongside his henchmen as a "tax collector" and general bully. In return, her daily food ration would be essentially tripled, paid for from the administrator's private stores that he flamboyantly showed off in front of her. Abhorred that he lived in relative luxury while her neighbors were literally fighting each other in the streets over half pound parcels of rice, meat, and vegetables, Cheng still had enough sense to realize how much this would help her family. Conflicted, the panda politely thanked the official for his offer and asked for a night to think it over. Confident that she would have no choice but to work for him, having known her family well, her benefactor agreed.
Fearing that she would talk and ruin their scheme, his overeager lieutenant followed after her on impulse. It was an rash decision that would end in tragedy for Lee. Rushing into her home, the intruder fired on her immediate family. Backed into a corner, Cheng fought despite knowing full well her market combat skills were no match for a gunman. Surprisingly his bullets never touched her and when she struck him, her fists rang like lead.
As her attacker fell to the floor unconscious, Cheng looked down at her shirt, unable to believe she had not been hit. The garment was full of small circular holes, her opponent having quite clearly emptied most of his magazine trying to take her down. Turning around, her pace slowed down glacially as fear overcame her brain, the rest of the attacker's bullets had also found their mark, mortally wounding Cheng's brother and mother.
With her only ties in the village gone and knowledge of what the administrator would do to her once he found out she was a metabeing, the Oriental ursine fled. But not before her neighbors received a mysterious gift of food in the middle of the night and the mayor's private stores strangely caught fire...
Carefully, the panda made her way from her village all the way to Beijing. There she snuck passage to Japan, where she would live for several months doing odd repair jobs and saving up for a ticket into the United States, the farthest she felt she could go to get away from the horror she had left behind. It was during this time Cheng was exposed to Japanese society, learning its pop culture, sampling its food, and discovering its sports.
Despite the fact that the official sumo leagues of Japan were explicitly "male only", there were a number of unofficial amateur leagues where the panda would distinguish herself quite handily during her short stay in Japan. Cheng came to enjoy the rush of power that came from fighting with her strength and size.
As she saved and broadened her skills, Lee carefully experimented with her powers to better understand what she was capable of. By the time she had earned enough to book passage for California and last her a few months in the states, she had gathered a reasonable understanding of her strange abilities enough to enhance her background with sculpture and metalwork.
Unfortunately even now Cheng's fortunes were not particularly bright, the young ursine had successfully immigrated to San Francisco shortly before the hard-won peace Lady Yokozuna had earned the city began to completely break down. Yet despite being meek and soft-spoken, Cheng is nothing if not a survivor...
Description of Powers: Cheng possesses an unusual control over metal that is has been rarely observed and not fully understood by metabeing physiologists.
At her most basic level, she can bend and twist metal as if she possessed super strength despite having a perfectly normal level of strength when it comes to dead lifting or manipulating non-metallic substances. At this level Lee is also capable of psionically "feeling" out the location and composition of any metallic object, able to put her mind into a trance like state where she is effectively a biological metal detector.
With higher levels of focus, she can cause metal to "melt," assuming a semi-solid state where it can be physically shaped by her thoughts alone.
At her highest level is the ability that saved her life that fateful night, the ability to absorb metal directly into her body and extrude it later into a variety of shapes. After absorbing metal inside of her, her pelt develops a metallic sheen and an extensive resistance to kinetic damage while her fists takes on a punch similar in feeling to a pair of brass knuckles.
Despite these wondrous gifts, she is not without weaknesses. In order to manipulate or absorb metal she must maintain physical contact with it. Furthermore, as metal is an efficient conductor, her absorption technique renders her vulnerable to electricity and intense heat.
Skills: Professionally Lee is a licensed welder and metalworker, possessing a good grasp of all the knowledge and education that entails with particular specialties in machine welding, die casting, and basic blacksmithing.
In combat, Cheng is still a fairly inexperienced brawler used to using her size and weight to discourage people who would try to take advantage of her. While her training in Japan helped refine her ability to "throw her weight around"; the art of sumo wrestling, a discipline of grapples and holds, is hardly an effective martial art for actual combat unless the wrestler is naturally bulletproof.
Domestically, Cheng is a reasonable cook with a background in Chinese cooking. Her cleaning is not particularly stellar but her home is neat with little clutter. If there is one area she particularly lacks in, it's maintaining her own clothes, particularly when it comes to repairing or adjusting them. In those cases, she generally just trades tailoring jobs for cooking.
Last Known Location: Believed to currently be in self-imposed exile in the San Fran Crisis Zone, most of her neighbors in San Francisco’s China Town are unaware of her past history or hidden metabeing status.
