Themis, her parents and the Lake Guardians continue their way, back into the majority part of this Layer that's used as just one huge storage. Together as a team, they manage to break into what appears to be some kind of control room of this Layer's storage system, as that would likely be beneficial for their progress in some way. Though just then, a bunch more of the security personnel is getting on their way to them, which the good guy characters notice. "Oh no, what are we gonna do?", Themis reacts to that with sarcasm, "If only we had some kind of advantage with where they're approaching us." The Angel Zorua then doesn't hesitate any longer, using the control room to open up all cages in the storage, freeing the demons at least in this Layer. "Oops, accidentally pushed a button.", she continues joking about it, "I'm sure that's no big deal for our approaching enemies."
Of course, this is not nearly enough to completely solve the inequality going on, but it helps them well now, as the demons understand easily that someone on their side must have let them free here, which makes it equally easy to conclude that they gotta get to where that control room is, and since every demon has seen something of this Layer, together the demons quickly find the right way as they come together. Meanwhile Themis and Co are starting to get overwhelmed by how many security angels they have to deal with now. Though then the demons she just freed arrive and join the fight, allowing Themis and Co to get away while that fight is going on, with the group of six prioritizing progress over participating in that fight right now. Someone gotta deal with the Boss Enemy here too after all.
And so they soon get to where that Boss Battle is going to take place, near a literally red sea in this Layer, with the enemy in their way introducing himself: "You dare to oppose me, I see... My name is Ramesses and I'll make you face justice for your attempts of causing true equality!" Ramesses is a sphinx (the mythical creature with the head of a human, the body of a lion, and the wings of an eagle), standing on two legs, wearing pharaoh attire, but ironically enough this character named after Ramesses II then goes on to say: "Your soul must be thoroughly corrupted, your heart blinded... Being on the side of demons? You're as bad as an atheist, and just like an atheist, you'll burn in hell for eternity! God is alive and he will be proud of me for stopping you on your way now, Themis! God's not dead and you'll face his wrath through me!", even though Arceus would most definitely not approve of this... Well, with how right those bad angels and their allies think they are, delusions like those aren't really that surprising. His views make Themis imagine the song for the now beginning fight to be "Rippin' me off" by Skillet:
(Skillet's "Rippin' me off": https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jAMpSdl1lCU)
"You say that God is dead, but you're rippin' me off!
You can't infect my mind with your vanity!
You say that God is dead, but you're rippin' me off!
You can't infect my mind with your vanity!
You're rippin' me off!
You're rippin' me off!
You're rippin' me off!
You're rippin' me off!"
As usual, Gaia the Dachsbun begins by using Helping Hand on Themis as her daughter strikes Ramesses with her sword, with Uranus the Angel Zoroark and the three Lake Guardians attacking as well, all that kind of expectedly turning out to not be an efficient enough way to defeat this bipedal sphinx. Of course, they already thought of using Psychic against him in the first turn, but even that wasn't doing enough damage, so however Psychic is intended to be used in this boss battle, it's not by directly attacking him. Ramesses strikes Mackenzie the Mesprit with his pharaoh scepter while the group tries to figure out what to do. "Gotta love when boss battles are designed like puzzles.", Alastair the Azelf comments, "At least in video games... makes it a bit more memorable, I think. But unfortunately, it's not that great for us to actually have to face that challenge in reality, being in the middle of a fight makes it hard to focus on trying to figure such stuff out!" Themis looks at the surroundings, trying to see anything that could be affected by Psychic in a unique way or with unique consequences. Meanwhile Ramesses goes for his second attack, summoning a damagingly strong sandstorm, which fortunately only lasts for about ten seconds so that this fight doesn't become impossible but unfortunately can't be blocked or dodged by anyone in the group. So after this, Gaia just uses Memento again to at least lower the enemy's damage output at the cost of her being defeated instantly.
"...The red sea!", Themis finally realizes, "We have to part the red sea with Psychic!" "And then what?", Yannick the Uxie questions, so the Angel Zorua guesses: "If this uhhh boss battle puzzle or whatever to call it is in any way inspired by the bible story, we gotta get Ramesses in there before the sea gets uhh... un-parted." "Alright, Lake Guardians, you heard what my daughter said.", Uranus says, after which Mackenzie, Alastair and Yannick all begin to use Psychic in order to part the sea right behind the battlefield here, though obviously such a great mass of water is gonna be really heavy, so even together, the three of them need a couple more turns to really manage to part the red sea enough.
The opposing sphinx now summons mummies to attack which Themis and Uranus try their best to fight off since the Lake Guardians are currently busy and Gaia already defeated herself. Next up, Ramesses is summoning sarcophaguses to trap opponents inside those, and again, the father-daughter-duo has to not only defend themselves from that fate but also protect the three legendary Pokémon among them, so that they can keep focusing on the water. The following attack of the enemy in pharaoh attire consists of him summing a giant cobra, so that unlike the quantity issue of the mummy attack, this one provides a challenge through size, but can ultimately be dealt with by the good guys after all, all while Ramesses is getting ready for whatever attack he chooses next. That ends up being him summoning what's basically a temporary mini-sun in an attempt to blind his opponents, though by now they got far enough in this journey to pick up on the cue in time and avoid looking at it while the bright light is there, which fortunately stops soon enough.
Finally, the Lake Guardians manage to part the red sea thanks to all three of them using Psychic to achieve that. Well... now we just gotta get Ramesses in there. Themis doesn't even hesitate running right into there, which causes the sphinx to chase after her, acknowledging her as essentially the leader of this group and certainly the biggest problem among them to Puruel. Themis runs a bit further, wanting to make sure that the enemy would end up deep enough to not be able to get out. Then she waits for Ramesses to catch up to her, at which point she rams her sword into his crotch area, causing him to kneel down in great pain, giving Themis now the chance to get out of here. It certainly gives her a good head start, since the non-Pokémon is already getting up and starting to come after her again. But as soon as she gets to safety, the Lake Guardians immediately stop using their Psychic to keep the red sea parted, causing it to close while Ramesses is all the way down there. This is enough force for this boss battle enemy to be unable to just swim back up to the surface, leading to him drowning, ending the fight that way. "Huh.", Mackenzie notes casually, "I just committed second-degree murder. Despite being a Goddess, that's somehow a first."
After the fight, just like the Lake Guardians planned, they use the three Heart Scales on themselves to replace their Psychic attack with what they had in its place before. Then, with Ramesses out of the way and the security angels kept busy by the demons they set free at least in this Layer, the group can then get on their way to the next Layer, not really having to worry about the security personnel of this Layer chasing after them into the higher Levels with how busy they're kept here thanks to the consequences of the Angel Zorua's actions.
