Following along the suggested characters that agentshark gave, I tried my hands on Gabumon. It was at this point I was doing the same "mistake" again of spending far too long drawing and running out of fumes, so the results were also bit hasty.
Here I tried to use the CSP's "reference layer" feature where my pen would not cross the outlines too much. Bit of a shame I didn't apply it to inks at all and did so on the sketch layer: it made coloring certain areas difficult as it did not go over them smoothly. Should've separated sketch layer from the color layer, but that would have not eliminated the issue of drawing over the lines themselves. In the end, had to simply focus on erasing the excess colors.
I hate inking due to it's slower paced nature and the requirement for precision. Same goes for having to do precise erasing. No wonder I enjoy sketching more and often see sketches are more superior to complete images. But that's more of me and my error-fueled ways talking: imagine if I had the patience to ink and vary the ink lines.
