Story
"Kling...Kling...." the sleepy raven Bleak heard as he opened his eyes rapid, grasping for his sheath with weary eyes. "Finally awake, huh?" he heard from outside his room as a small blonde feathered head spied around the door frame.
A wide smile on his face, he opened his beak, looking at the sitting rleak. "You want to lend me a hand for a bit?" the blonde nightjar chirped at his guest. Going over to his wooden cupboard, picking up two aprons, giving one to Bleak while putting one on himself.
"Fine, although next time, you can simply knock!" Bleak stated, visibly annoyed but still grateful that he could take some rest at Fugax's home. Loosening his grip on his sword hilt as he stands up, refreshing his face with only a loincloth on his body.
"I meet you downstairs." Fugax remarks as he closes the door behind him. His steps accompanied by a fitting creak as she walks along the wooden planks.
A few moments pass until Bleak makes his way towards the small bakery, it was an open place with an oven right in the middle. Fugax looked over as he put on the apron that his friend gave him.
"Already fired up and ready to go!" the blonde feathered nightjar shouted as he carried over a linen bag full of ground wheat. "You take this spot, weighing everything. Does that sound fine?" Fugax instructed, showing him which stone to use for the right amount of water.
They started their work relatively quiet, Fugax thought to himself that Bleak didn't sleep as long as he should have. "Are you feeling alright?" the baker asked towards his tired friend. "I could use some more sleep right now." He muttered, yawning while weighing everything accordingly.
Some time had already passed as Fugax finished up one of the last doughs, putting it on the tablet and covering it to rise in a warm place.
He looks over, going closer to his companion, pulling out his arm to guide the rleak towards the dough. "There is a right technique to knead it, without it sticking too much to your feathers, you know?" Tutoring his friend. "Now you try it!" Fugax chuckled, moving behind the taller corvid, slapping his butt. "Hey..." The raven responded, scratching his head in surprised, blushing at the gesture.
Remarks
Thanks to ToriDoc, one of my very first commissions of Fugax, with the wonderful reference sheet she also made herself. Amazing work, with a nice touch of friendship! I love how this one turned out, the comfortable theme within the small place Fugax calls home. Especially since he has his friend Bleak over. There are seldom things better than spending time with very dear friends.
