Doesn't matter where he drops it, it's going to tip over, drop into the wheelbarrow, which will roll downhill and around the precarious balancing rock that he's hiding under. Then when it explodes he's going sit up with soot all over his face, look towards the camera, and have time to blink twice before the rock falls on him.
