My OC Arthur and Maxon and it's probably the last art with them

I did the sketch of this art in December 2021, continued to work on it in August 2023 and finished today - during all these times I was working on this art I was different person mentally.
Maxon (the gray cat) came into my mind 6 years ago and a year later Arthur (the black dog) was added into Max's story. These characters appeared in my life during hard time when I had to do heavy decisions in my personal life. They helped me to went through healing from the deepest scars, were warming my heart when I needed it the most, they're an important part of my self-growt and trauma arch which is finally over.
But it's time to move on. I changed as a person and I can't associate them with myself anymore. Their original setting gives me sad associations with terrible reality around. And I also finally clearly see that their personal connection dynamic (romantic? platonic? idk) doesn't work to me: they're too different to have an ending together. Unmatching personalities, too different life goals, opposite needs. In the end, they'll just wish each other the best and split up to continue their own life path.
Maxon and Arthur are unreplaceable characters and have a special place in my heart, but let's the new stories in my mind and art begin. Thank you, 2D furry guys, for being a bright spot in my life during the last 5 years.
