Hmm... I could think of a few ways to escape that so me actually drowning wouldn't be exactly guaranteed. But you know what would be inescapable? Gagged and encased in concrete up to the mouth and buried at the beach at low tide as you helplessly watch the water creep up and lap at your face. Which is exactly what I'm gonna do to you as a revenge
I kinda like the thought of him drinking as much water as he can till his stomach is full, but then more water gets poured in. And having a full stomach makes it hurt to keep up that pose and makes him more tired.
Maybe after drinking all that water he won't drown because he can't keep that pose, but instead he'll have to pee, which makes the water (now mixed with his pee) rise over his nose and he'll drown in a mix between his piss and water. That also means that when his oxygen depraved body forces him to open his mouth, he'll taste his own piss.
