Ah, yes, the Toon Dragon, also simply known as “Fairy Tale Dragons” are admittedly one of the rarer subspecies of Dragon in the Realm of Materia. They’re known for their bulky strength, extremely kind-hearted will, tiny wings and even being descended from the Mute God. This would explain their more rounded out and even friendly appearance as well as their innate “polymorph” skills. Very rarely will you see one of these creatures use magic and if they do it’s for... Transformations or something silly like turning apples into caramel ones. Most of these creatures have a very deep sense of justice and will usually follow a more “heroic” path than other dragons. This is also why it's not uncommon that you’ll see them getting along with townsfolk and fighting off the latest Kaiju threat.
Which if they ever feel threatened, they’d much rather solve things with their fists instead of using their claws or tail. Not to mention they have an outstanding breath attack that would make any plasma rifle seem like a laser pointer in comparison. Although this is a last-ditch effort as this will usually cause massive collateral damage and it’s something these dragons like to avoid. Similar to following the path of the Mute God, these creatures if ever needing to equip a weapon always seem to land on the two-handed sword and shield combo. I’m not entirely sure why they would need them considering their fists are infinitely more dangerous, but they could also just be holding back. It's also unlike for them to even end up in a fight to begin with!
Toon Dragons very rarely will slay the other opponent if engaged, and it leads to many of them being overly merciful. This is why this dragon will usually engage the same target over, and over, and over again. Creating giant monster battle spectacles for years on end as it sometimes becomes a main attraction for a city. Admittedly, I’m just grateful that there’s a group of monsters on Materia that would rather protect the smaller species instead of eating them. Maybe this is why they can get along with Kobolds so well, but they seem to have a distaste to be around Plantarans... Probably because they try and hunt them for sport. Also, don't allow for any "royalty" to be around these dragons. Nine times out of then they'll start conspiring to capture the nearest royals and force them into torturous amounts of team time, showing off their completely pointless wealth of shiny rocks, annnnnnnd they'll talk their ear off to an extreme degree. Most kings and queens go mad trying to even hold a conversation with this foul beast.
Some have theorized that these beings are infinitely less intelligent in comparison to other dragons, but this is simply not true. They just have a very short attention span and can get distracted very easily. Also don't mistake their fat for anything but muscle. I've said it once before and I'll say it once again, these creatures are beefy and tough! A little fun fact is that the tallest one on record was over 80 feet tall! No kidding! ~Commander Proto

Hee-Ho, Happy New Year everyone! How are you all? Doing well I assume?
I feel like this one was pretty heavily requested from every now and then. Let it be because of Hyembs or- Thomza in their cartoon dragon form, I’m giving you all a data log to explain a bit of the lore about them!
I want to start this year off pretty strong. Explaining and giving out a few things that I feel that are missing. Of course, there’s plenty of art detailing bits and pieces, but not a definitive starting point or the full package. Well, I wanted to change that. I also want to say that Hyembs still is not in the “Skin to Scales universe”, but she is certainly the same species as depicted here. Mostly as I said the other series I’m working on of course, “Hyembs the Dragon” doesn’t have the same visceral tones. This species sheet is nothing short of a possible guideline. I’ve already stated that most of my dragon artwork is still inspired by the “cartoonish” look of dragons, but it’s not to say other more feral or monstrous designs don’t live out in the setting.
Skin to Scales is still a very dark setting, but I want to make sure it looks bright and colorful, and there are constant happy and bubbly creatures to counter said darkness.
Happy New Years everyone, and I hope you all have a good one! Next data log however, is going to certainly be much different in tone...
Disclaimer and Copyright: These characters involved, and the artwork belongs to me, TwistedHensley. The Skin to Scales Universe also belongs to me there, TwistedHensley... You get the drill. I want to point out that this is an Epic Dark Fantasy setting with a lot of mythological and religious tones and that there is no real-life connection to any of these events, religions, characters and it is fully, grounded, in fantasy. There is no copyright infringement also intended to other forms of media as Skin to Scales is meant to be its own thing and something I've been working on for a very long time. This is the same setting where faith is a massive part of the magic system, and it is usually meant to have a very bright and colorful art style to help balance the tone.

Fun Fact: Toon Dragons have a serious sweet tooth, they're mostly omnivores, but usually like sweet things above all else
Fun Fact 2: There has never been a case of an "Evil" Toon Dragon, at worse they're neutral
Fun Fact 3: Tulivores and Toon Dragons are best friends! In fact Toon Dragons try to be best friends with everybody
Fun Fact 4: Some have attempted to bottle their deadly breath, it's a lot of work but it's doable even if impractical
Fun Fact 5: Toon Dragons hate pessimism above all else, even above those doing evil
Fun Fact 6: Their scales are very smooth and rubbery, similar to that of fruit! They also belong in the "Planimal" family right alongside Fruit Kobolds, Tulivores and Mandrakes
Fun Fact 7: Some misconceptions state that some might be the offspring of Thomza and Aellea, this is false, however- Aellea is not against this idea of her being seen as such to the select few who do share different views... Tia is a bit apprehensive however and believes they should not be encouraged
