Whoa, I didn't know Flash Gordon came out that long ago. I thought it was a bit more recent.

It originated in 1934 (as a John Carterish, Buck Rogerish comic). had Film-Serials in 1936 to 1940.
A movie in 1980 (with a soundtrack by "Queen").

There was a live-action TV show from 1954-1955.
An animated (filmmation) one from 1979-1980.
An animated movie in 1982 ("Flash Gordon: The Greatest Adventure of All")
Defenders of the earth in 1986.
A Hearst Entertainment series in 1996.

And another Live-action series in 2007-2008.

I remember the serials when they played them on tv way back when.

And perhaps not so coincidentally, Buck Rogers was first published 5 years earlier (1929), on the same day!

Hence why I call Jan 7th "Pulp Science Fiction Day."

I do like from the '96 series, how they made Ming and his daughter Lizard-ish, making them decidedly more alien.
Always thought Doctor Sulpha was kinda hot.

Feeling my age seeing this oldie but goodie.
