Can't sleep tonight. Been a weirdly stressful beginning of the year for me, having moved to a new house and everything.
Decided to do this thing I do again, when I vibe out to my music while drawing poorly on Gimp2 until whatever I'm making feels right.
This one was the vibe of the music I was listening to, Escape the Fate's new album "Out Of The Shadows". Some of the most hardcore emo metal I've heard in years, and I say that as a compliment and a fan. The guitar solo from the opening track "Forgive Me" gives me this visual of what I attempted to draw here. This long, looming stag monster of bones and shadow, similar to the band's choice of album art, but a lot more.... spooky?
I also envisioned it like kinda half built into a cliff, almost with the same shadowy contrast as art from that old indie game "Limbo". But I kinda lost that direction as I kept adding layers to the image and painting crazy colors. Again.. this was one of my vibey sessions that sprouted from stress, insomnia, and boredom. It eventually turned into this painterly, shadowy blob of sketch that I'm not sure how well people without a super-duper HDR designer's monitor like mine will even see. Kinda adds to the ominous vibe I was going for though. I suppose somebody might have to really squint to see what this is, when! BOO! spoopy scribble monster!
