So sometimes I go through something called alexithymia. That's basically what this comic has been about, for those of you non-alexithymics who haven't figured it out yet. Basically, my sense of emotion just DIES. And it can last a while. It doesn't always end with me having such a flat affect but these were some pretty intense bouts that aren't necessarily, uh, usual. Maybe I'll get into that in a future comic series.

This doesn't mean you have no emotion, but you might not really notice it when it happens. It can feel like physical sensations instead. In this case, Hearts recognized she was happy because her face was hurting and that kinda snapped her out of whatever it was she was going through in this arc.
