Part 2- Journey to Lemuria
By Sharkbait2000It had been a few weeks since his fight against Bait for the first time, discovering his mysterious but dark power that seemed to have no control over it. That left Kuma thinking of what to do, he lives in Animal kingdom and he’s happy but feels like something is missing and that’s when he decided on something.
“I have decided what to do but I should talk to Dad first. It's the only way.” Kuma mumbled to himself as He gets up from his remodeled bed and left his remodeled bedroom which got destroyed by Bait’s machine army.
Kuma passed by few still destroyed rooms with animals still working on them, as he can hear them talking as he passed by.
“Yes right there. God can’t believe Bait did this.”
“I heard the chimera did the final blow but I think it’s his fault.”
“Yeah Maybe he provoked Bait to do this so we can see Him as a hero. What a joke.”
“Could be… maybe mind control?”
“Sounds about right!”
“The guards laughed together as they get back to work.”
He heard everything but he can’t blame them, they know nothing about his kind as he walked away, quickly trying to get to the throne room as he didn’t seen where he was going at the corner, where he bumped at the large person and bumped.
“Oh sorry! I didn’t see you there!” Kuma said as his eyes widen as he saw a tiger shark standing there menacing with a spear at his right hand.
The tiger shark have a bit of blue skin with blank stripes with red eyes, a gray beard and a green vest with a green tattoo on his left arm and a bandage wrapping around the tail and a shark tooth necklace
“Oh! It’s fine. It’s hard to see around corners is it?“ The shark said as he offered a hand to pick up Kuma.
“Oh nah it’s my fault for running fast, sir” Kuma said as he got confused why the stranger was so nice to him but accepted the hand and get back up, and during the hand exchange, Kuma sensed a tingling vibe from the shark but quickly retreated the hand as he gets up. “Y-yeah I’m fine! I’m sorry, who are you?”
“Oh we haven’t met yet right? You know General Max right? I am Laxus, known as the Commander Laxus who is under command of General Max. I just got accepted as the commander and work under General Max.” Laxus said as he proudly claimed the title.
“Oohhh I heard he got a new Commander. So that’s you Huh? Congratulations on making it… I heard he's a bit difficult.” Kuma said.
“Oh he was. I’m sure he’s just making sure I got it and all, since the war and all. And you are King’s son yes? Kuma, right? Pleasure to meet you.” Laxus said with a smile.
“Yes, that's me. Excuse me for asking but aren’t you…. Little old for commander title? You look like you could be my Dad’s age.” Kuma asked nervously as hope he didn’t offend the shark.
“Oh I get this a lot but we sharks age fast. Believe it or not I’m young at heart.” Laxus said as he rubbed his grey beard.
“Oh really? I didn’t know that. Well not judging! But excuse me I gotta go see my Dad. You know where is he?” Kuma said.
“He’s in the War room talking to General Max. We’re here to make progress in the war. Against…. Ummmm….” Laxus said as he tried not to say the word.
“My kind? Yeah I get that a lot.” Kuma shrugged.
“No no it’s not just yours. But others clans as well. “ Laxus stuttered.
“Ahhh… right. There are others beside Nibel.” Kuma said.
“Yes exactly, my apologies if I offended you.”
“It’s no big deal, but I kinda need to see Dad. So if you excuse me…” kuma said as he started to leave
“Ahhh right. Sure, go ahead.” Laxus said as he quickly got out of the way
“Thanks, Laxus. Good to meet you.” Kuma said as he rushed off.
“At least one more that doesn’t hate me” *Kuma thought in his head as he headed to the War room.
As he headed inside, he saw a large round table with some papers with some maps or plans around it, and Riyu is having a chat with a large male lion, in silver knight armor suit with the brown claw crest behind the back with large brown mane with some claw mark scars on the face.
The large knight lion just turn and faced Kuma with a disapproval expression as Kuma stared back with nervous look.
“Ummm…. Sorry for interrupting Dad and General… umm sir…” Kuma nervously said.
“Mmm…. We’re in the middle of the discussion, Chimera.” Max said as he left out a growl with arms crossed.
“I… I know. But… I was looking for Dad for something. Dad, can I talk for a second?” Kuma asked as he looked at his Father.
“It's fine, General. You can send me battle reports for later. You may go now.” Riyu said.
“As you command, sir.” Max said as he bowed a bit as then walked by Kuma and closed the door behind*
“Little tense is he?” Kuma asked, looking at the door and back at his Father.
“He just came back from the front lines. It has been difficult…. Especially other clans to attempt to cooperate.” Riyu said.
“Yeah it has…. Ummmm…. I came here to talk to you about something.” Kuma asked as he played with his fingers, thinking about that rage he felt against the battle against Bait and that mysterious mark.
“Sure son. What do you need?” Riyu said as he put everything away and focused solely on his son.
“Look I had been thinking, I don’t know anything about myself or my story or my origin… so I think I want to… ummmm….. I dunno….” Kuma said as he slowly getting quiet, trailing off.
“What is it that bothers you? You can tell me anything, son.” Riyu said as he patted him in the head, instantly comforting Kuma.
“Mmm… you probably will not let me go there but… I think I need to head to the Mythical Clan in Lemuria! I know it could be dangerous but that's where I came from and I feel like I have to go there to know more about myself.” Kuma proclaimed.
“Oh dear... that is a troublesome thought to think about. you'd need to have some sort of company with you and be extra prepared for it.” Riyu said as he thought about the idea as he rubbed his beard.
“I thought about that but Dad, that's your enemy’s land, I’m the only one who’s the chimera here. I think it’s better for me to go by myself, I can’t let anyone else here get hurt… I know your family used to be part of the Clan but now you rule here.” Kuma exclaimed.
“But.. are you sure about this? I don't want to lose you.” Riyu asked in worrisome voice.
“I know Dad and you won’t. But it’s better like this. I keep in touch by sending Flame mail. And… Freedo can protect me! He can hide in my fur.” Kuma shouted as he showed his serious face, not taking a no for an answer.
Riyu thought for a moment. “Sure things could go wrong. But Kuma wants some answers and obviously staying here is won’t help. Especially the citizens is blaming Kuma for Bait’s actions…. Maybe it’s best for Kuma. Both for answers and a break away.” Riyu thought as he sighed loudly.
“I know you better than that, trying to change your mind. Alright. If you think this will give you answers, then you should go. We'll try to keep in touch with you. If anything happens, make sure to call me, Tuskarr or Alan and we’ll get you out. Is that understood, son?” Riyu said as he placed his hands on his hips.
“Oh really? Thank you dad. I promise I’ll be careful!” Kuma happily shouted as he hugged his father.
“Hehe. Of course I want to help you to understand who you are. And if you think going there instead of staying here helps. Then I’ll support you all the way. Now go get your things ready.” Riyu commanded.
“Of course!” Kuma said as he broke off the hug and headed back to his room, running by Alan as he entered the War room.
“My apologies, But I heard everything. As much as I worry for him too, I’m sure he can handle himself, as long as he doesn't say he was raised here.. the others will not harm him… probably. Plus He can’t stay here for whole life. He had to get out one way or another.” Alan said as he crossed his arms.
“I suppose I should believe you, Alan. I worry about him because he's still so young and I'm afraid if anything happens to him... it's my fault.” Riyu said as he tried not to think what could go wrong.
“I know… but I’m sure he can handle himself. He just has to play it smart as he goes there. I wish I could go but I suppose me or you with him will cause end for him, it is the best for him to go by himself. We don’t know any others like him.” Alan explained.
“Indeed… All I can do is to trust him that he can handle himself and whatever truth he finds on the way.” Riyu said.
Few hours later, Kuma packed his satchel and put it on his back.
“Ok that's everything…” Kuma said as he saw the picture of young Himself with his dad and goes to reach to grab it but then backed away.
“I wish I could bring this but maybe it's better not to… come on, Freedo time for us to go” Kuma said as Freedo chirped as he jumped and lay on Kuma's shoulder as Kuma leaves his room and head downstairs to meet his dad and Alan.
“Awww, General Max or Laxus already left?” Kuma groaned. “I like Laxus.”
“Sadly yes. Laxus is very nice indeed. But we're here to see you off. Just remember to be careful out there. I don't mean to offend you, but your clan… is strong against us.” Alan said as he whispered on the last part.
“Yes Alan-Sensei, I heard you. I'll be careful and I'll keep in touch.” Kuma said.
Riyu gave his son a hug.
“Be careful, son. I don't know what you'll find out about yourself and… possibly your real family but whatever you find… I'll be here ok?” Riyu said.
“Real family? Dad, blood or not, you're always going to be my number one dad.” Kuma quickly said.
“I know but I mean….” Riyu said.
“I get it. But I appreciate it. Thank you for letting me do this. This will... let me have closure about myself and whatever I find good or bad.” Kuma said with a smile, petting his pet Freedo. “And of course I won’t be alone. I still have you and Freedo and others.”
“Alright. Now go make your old man proud.” Riyu chuckled as he pat his son’s head.
“Hehe I will. I'll send the letter as soon as I have a chance. If anything happens, you'll see a symbol around the end of the letter ok? Like a heart or drawing of something cute. Just a precaution.” Kuma explained.
“Smart boy. That will give us a way to figure out what happened. I'll keep an eye on your dad to make sure… he doesn't freak out. I told you your son is smart.” Alan chuckled as he crossed his arm.
“Indeed he is.” Riyu chuckled.
“Ok! Freedo, let's go!” Kuma shouted.
Freedo did a little tail wave at Riyu and others as Kuma started his journey.
As soon as Kuma got out of the site, heading to the Land, Riyu spoke softly.
“Just for precaution, You summoned him to keep an eye on him right?” Riyu asked.
“I doubt Kuma would notice him but yes. He is ordered to stay out of sight unless necessary.” Alan said
“Good. I trust my son that he'll handle anything that gets in his way but better safe than sorry.” Riyu said as he watched the chimera figure disappearing into the trail toward Lemuria.
“Mmmm…” Alan nodded with approval.
For the next few days, Kuma traveled based on the map he had been given by his father to find Lemuria while avoiding the crossfire and warzone areas, passing by a few places that seemed not to be popular then he found a last building with a poster saying this is an arena cage fight some sort, which unfortunately not open now but there is a date which Kuma could come back too.
“Wow, some sort of arena fight… All species are welcome to watch and place bets on your favorite fighters. Opens next week!” Kuma read.
The poster shows some pictures of what seem to be a few fighters, some animals, and some reptiles, though one of them seems to have caught his attention.*
“Huh? What's that?” Rare and one kind of fighter as you have never seen before! Come and see this warrior of the past reached to the future. Bets for this fighter cost extra!" Kuma red once more.
“Huh? I wonder who this unique fighter is for me to bet on…. I should come here when I come back home.” Kuma said as he grabbed his note from his bag.
After some reading and taking notes as he marked on the map to ensure he could come back here on this route, he went on. Then sooner or later he finally made a first step into the border where there seemed to be a large river between the borders of Nibel and Lemuria with a wooden bridge between it.
“Huh… so this is the part of the Demon's Cross as Dad said?” Kuma mumbled as he remembered a story that his Father told him a few times, that long ago before the time had a name, all clans were united as one and ruled by Demons and greatly worshiped by all the clans and some humans as it helped them get rain and food and everything they needed to survive. One day an ultimate battle with 6 demons against the powerful Demon with the strange power of Earth happened that caused the land to split into four ways, in the process, making four clans as it was today. But of course, it is just a legend. But that's why the entire land was nicknamed "Demon's Cross."
“Of course, it was just a legend…. But what a story… to create such a name as this and the land today…. “ Kuma mumbled to himself as he headed to the bridge.
He is mindful of every step he takes, as he crossed the bridge, being careful not to break the bridge with his size. Finally made it to another side he could feel the magical power increasing with each step he took, climbing up the small but rocky hill, which allowed him not to be spotted by the Mythical Clan. He doesn't feel as ready as he thought he was as he gazed at Lemuria.
The city is very beautiful. The city seems to be surrounded by walls with guards at each exit, some guards were Trolls, Cyclopes at the doorways with Griffins sitting on each tower of the City, and Kuma can smell the saltiness in the air, which hints Kuma that there is the ocean few miles behind the city. And around some buildings and walls, there are some that are destroyed, close to be broken by touching or have claw marks all over.
“Well Freedo there is it…. My birthplace… The place doesn't seem… homey compared to Nibel.” Kuma quietly said as he continued looking.
Freedo chirped softly as if he agreed.
“You're right, Freedo… Just because it was nice a bit in Nibel, it doesn't mean It could be the same here… after all we're at war…” Kuma thinking about his decision.
Freedo chirped again as he gave Kuma a lick on the cheek to comfort him.
“Hehehe that’s tickles. Hehe thanks Freedo. You always know how to cheer me up. Kuma chuckled as he petted Freedo. “I’m so glad I brought you here with me.
Freedo chirped happily again as he heard the last comment.
Kuma turned and gazed back at Lemuria.
“So this place looks like the only one way in, the gates with these guards… geez even bigger than me…” Kuma thought as he breathed in and out” “No turning back now. Freedo, it is better if you stay hidden in my fur. Just don't come out until I say so, ok?”
Freedo chirped to confirmed the directions he was given and jumped in deep into the fur underneath the clothing.
“Ok I'm their kind so they'll let me in…” Kuma thought as He walked down from the hill to the gate and the troll guards looked at him with intense glare as if it's not peaceful there..
“Umm… hi… Just coming back from the journey…” Kuma waved but then the guards blocked him with their spears*
“you forgot to show your ID.” The troll growled aggressively.
“Oh the ID? Right, I know the ID, I have the ID in my bag. Why would I leave without an ID” Kuma chuckled softly as he pretended to look in his bag as he started to scream in his head with nervous thought. "Insane security with ID? I don't even have it. What's next, getting executed?”
“Show us the ID or We'll terminate you!”
“Man what should I do? Haven't been 30 seconds and I'm about to blow my cover" *Kuma thought in his head trying to come up with an idea but nothing, until then he felt a tap on the shoulder and heard a bit of the deep but young voice.
“Hello Sir, I was behind you but I think you dropped this. Is this yours?”
“H-huh… wh-“ Kuma stuttered as he turned and saw it was a large orange Orc with some rune markings all over its body with a brown vest and long pants, even the orc was a little taller than Chimera, he looked about the same age as Kuma, perhaps little older.
“Didn't you hear me? This is yours rightttt?” The orc said as he waved the card that he is handing to Kuma.
He looked down and saw the card and slowly accepted it with a confused face.
“Um… yes this is- what…” Kuma looked at the card and somehow it showed a picture of Kuma but with a random name and other info. “How?" Kuma asked to himself.
“Are you going to stand there or will you give it to a nice guard?” The orc asked.
“Wh-what? Oh right! Sorry! Thanks, yes that's mine!” Kuma quickly turned and handed the ID to the guard.
“Huh” The troll grumbled as He red the ID very carefully scrolling the ID and sees it it was marked approved by the king.
“Ok this is real. Chimera huh? Haven't seen your kind for years… I assumed our king was not letting anyone come in anymore. And Hello Prince. Wait?! Prince Baratus! You're not supposed to be outside of the walls!” The troll exclaimed as he saw the orc that helped Kuma.
“Oh great! Thank you… wha.. Prince!?" Kuma exclaimed as he heard the word.
“About time you noticed me huh?” Baratus smirked as he crossed his arms. “I was just hanging out with this chimera. I hope you're not up to anything aggressive as usual…”
“Nothing Prince, This idiot here almost forgot the rule to show ID and we almost didn't let him in. You are supposed to be in the castle. You know your dad will be mad if he catches you out here.” The troll stuttered as he explained.
“Well that is not a way to treat a customer or visitor now, is it?? Right, Kofu?” Baratus said as he wrapped his arm around Kuma’s neck.
“Who? Me. Y-yes that's right. How would you be a good tourist attraction if you were this strict?” Kuma chuckled as he just tried to play along.
“I'm sorry Prince Baratus! That's what your father ordered! Forgive us! No need to put us in the hole with that thing!” The troll guard whimpered.
“I know my father has given me orders, but leave the little guy alone alright? Just go and patrol some other location or something.” Baratus commanded
"Who are you calling little?!" Kuma thought in his head at that last remark.
“Yes sir! You! Chimera! You can come in!” Troll guard exclaimed.
“Oh alright thank you!” Kuma said with a smile.
So with Baratus's orders, the Trolls went to patrol somewhere else and Kuma and a new big friend walked inside passing the gate.
“Hehe. Sorry about that earlier
Also about calling you little guy, I can't help but compare my size sometimes to others I make company for. Especially in that type of conflict you just almost put yourself in there.” Baratus said as he chuckled.
"Be cool be cool don't expose yourself" Kuka thought in his head as he swallowed his nervousness*
“Nah it's fine! I get that all the time! I just forgot the ID because I was camping out for a while. About a few months, Your Majesty. But I appreciate the help. I just need to get a new one. High security much?” Kuma chuckled as he shrugged.
“Haha yeah I suppose so. This is quite a big kingdom after all with the fighting going on.” Baratus said.
Despite being the prince of this kingdom, his appearance might as well be of a king for how massive, muscular, and gruff looking he looked, In Kuma's opinion, it's not all about looks to keep up the title.
He looked away for a second, looking around the place to get a little familiar.
“Well, thank you for helping, sorry for the trouble. I'm just going to find my place to rest for a bit. The sun is almost down.” Kuma said as he gazed around.
“Say which is your place here?” Baratus asked.
“Uhhhh… I did have a house here but lost it due to some renting issues?” Kuma said as he facepalmed himself. “It’s ok, I’ll figure it out…”
“Oh c'mon the least I can do for you is to find a place for you to stay, young one.” Baratus advertised.
Young one?" *kuma thought in his head. “Aren't we the same age? He's so direct!"
“Ok fine! Just one room will do. I had been out of the town a white. Not exactly a permanent place.” Kuma said.
“I know a very good hotel for you to stay. and no worries, I'll keep myself undercover.” Baratus smirked. “Just know when to bend some rules that’s all.”
“From your Dad? I heard.” Kuma asked.
“Let's say It's complicated for me and the geezer but never mind that. Let's go.” Baratus said as he does the hand motion to guide kuma.
So Kuma followed Baratus to a hotel where Kuma could spend a few nights here and finally headed to the room door where Kuma took the peak inside the room he'll be sleeping in.
“Well this place is not bad. I'll take this.” Kuma said as he faced Baratus.
“Oh right! mmm My name is Kuma, you probably don't know my name since you have so many us creatures here! And since you sent a fake ID for me, I figured it's appropriate to share my real name.” Kuma shrugged.
“Oh that is a nice name you got hehe. my name is Baratus.” Baratus said as he confidently flexed his big arm. “And I suppose you'd fit right into this Kingdom haha. So what is your business around here anyway?”
"Geee for a Prince, he's more of the show off with his strength than me" Kuma thought in his head as he spoke back. “Um. Not much just came from a village a few days from here and I wanted to see if I could move here to serve the King here? As a citizen of course?”
“You mean my Dad the Geezer. Nah, you're better off on your own than working with him.” Baratus said as he waved his hand no.
“What do you mean? I mean I heard it was a tyrant of some kind but is it that bad?” Kuma asked.
“Again it's complicated to explain but I should let you rest. You probably had a long… camping trip. Perhaps we could meet soon?” Baratus asked.
“Right… of course. Night.” Kuma said as he closed the door and put his things down as he double-checked Baratus had already left by looking at the door hole and making sure no one sees him through the window too..Alright. Freedo you can come out. Sorry for keeping you in there too long.”
Freedo jumped down as he doesn’t seem mind to be in there for long time
“Haha, never mind.” Kuma chuckled as he put his bag on the ground and looked through the windows to see the view.
“Geee first day here and I already met the king’s son here…. Kuma said to himself as he continued unpacking and gave Freedo and himself some food for the night before he grabbing himself a Pencil and paper and started writing the letter, explaining everything happened so far as well talking about Baratus, then he drew a fire symbol as he burns the letter whispering his Father’s name, sending it magically to Nibel.
