I know that they are in this situation because of Roko, but Brand needs to calm down because Roko is the key to helping everybody turn back to normal, free everybody from Darya's control, and helping them escape. Roko is willing to do anything to help them, even if it causes him any danger (even though Brand doesn't know that yet).

It looks like Roko is learning that he is way stronger in his dolphin form than his balloon fox or fish form. Roko better not get too cocky with his new strength as a dolphin though.

I had a feeling that Brand would try to fight Roko. I love Roko's smile in the top left panel, how angry Brand is, and how Roko slaps Brand's face with his dolphin tail the best.

Roko is responsible for the form swap but not the siren. They got lured into the ocean without his interference.

Brand and Saida did got lured into the ocean without Roko's interference, but they did walked and stay near the ocean over night because Brand was frustrated with his argument with Roko and they went over there without him. That's why I said it was partly Roko's fault.

The necklace's magic probably compelled him to do so, as he knew the idiot kitsune was a thief. The fact that he's furious with Roko did factor in, but "For the mistress!" meant he was attacking a known thief, when he was placed to guard the treasure from thieves.

Yeah. I thought that it was probably the necklace's magic that made Brand to attack Roko because Brand said "For the mistress!" when he was attacking Roko. Maybe when Roko attacks Brand with his tail, maybe it will knock some sense into Brand's head and will help Brand to get away from Darya's necklace magic for a little while?

Doubtful. Darya';s magic is much too strong to be broken by a mere strike/ Chances are, it's a completely unbreakable contract, like Ursula's. (Maybe they were coerced into signing, but at no point did Darya say "Sign this or I'll let you drown." Legal loopholes/

Yeah. That's probably true unless Roko and co. defeats Darya somehow. Yeah. Darya's magic is too strong to be broken by a mere strike but it might temporarily bring Brand back so he can think normally for a few seconds? But yeah Darya is smart and evil with the legal loopholes with every sea creature that is under Darya's control.

If Roko does save them,. thinking he's gonna call his debt square, and take off, to return as a major villain later.

That's a huge possibility that could happen in the future, especially with Roko's greediness to eat the most amount of souls, so he can be the biggest and most powerful being ever. We just have to wait and see, but I do agree that it is a strong possibility of that happening in the future.

But if Roko does become a villain in the future (which I predicted that a long time ago and think it will happen sometime in the future), I bet you that Roko's greediness to eat the most amount of souls and to be the biggest and most powerful being will come to haunt him and will be Roko's downfall in the future.

I don't think that Roko is a villain for now, but I think that he could accidentally be one if the wrong person like Darya convinces or tricks him to be one otherwise. Roko is greedy and clumsy but as of right now he is doing a little bit better on those terms for now.

Yeah. The stock (tail) of a cetacean is hella strong, and getting hit with those flukes hurts. Brand deserved that but good. He was trying to eat Roko and man, that wasn't cool.

Virmir even got the detail right that the upstroke of a cetan's tail is far stronger than the downstroke. Roko basically whacked him with everything he had. Maybe that'll knock some sense into Volcano Temper over there. He's lucky that Roko was in a bottlenose's body and not, say, an orca's.

That likely was a combination of Brand's frustration, and the fact that he KNOWS that Roko is an intruder, activating Darya's control to defend her treasure.

The amulet wasn't glowing. I don't think Brand needed the mind control to have an excuse to try and eat Roko. And I can't really blame him, either. Roko was an asshole.

But at least here, Roko's really going above and beyond to try to do the right thing, to make up for his previous selfish stupidity. This looks like a redemption arc for our newly minted Inari-kitsune, so Brand needs to throttle down the eruption. Seriously. If for no other reason...

Roko can handle the Eye Stone.

Well, there’s no telling whether Brand was acting in an “professional” or “personal” manner. But even if Roko can “hold” the Eye Stone, is Roko actually able to use the power of the Eye Stone himself? Brand and Saida are, in a very literal sense, under contract to protect “Darya’s treasure”, so Saida can’t “show” Roko how the Eye Stone works, not to mention that last time was an unintended result. Using the Eye Stone to fix this mess doesn’t look like something Roko will be able to do himself, yet Brand and Saida aren’t at liberty to directly help, so long as they’re stuck protecting Darya’s property from “thieves”.

Yep. Roko can't short-cut things by just hauling off the Eye Stone. There are now two MacGuffins in play: The Eye Stone and the contract binding Saida and Brand. But if Brand actually eats Roko and his spirit gets carted off by the Reapers, then they're absolutely hosed. They need Roko, however Brand feels about him, because he's the keystone that's going to get them out of this mess.

I still say Brand didn't need mind control to go after Roko, though. That's just Brand being Brand. 🤣

I hope those necklaces don't end up becoming no longer needed if their minds are fully servitude to their new ruler.

I think it is implied that is what happened to the dolphin that Roko is possessing. That is, if the minds are fully in 'manual' mode, it's the bodies themselves that Darya no longer needs. Since she can't be around all the time to micromanage.
