Heres another old bike lamp that i got from the same place that had the other one. It appears to be solid brass construction, has a green jewel on each side no cracks in the lense, no loose pieces, and even has the original bracket in great condition! There are no loose pieces and everything appears to be in place all it needs is a little cleaning on the inseide where its been corroded over the years from the calcium carbide and it may need a new reflector as well. Other than that its a very fine and beautiful piece :]

Dude, seriously? A carbide bike lamp? This isn't a miner's lamp? I didn't even know they made carbide bike lamps. Could you just buy carbide at the five and dime back when this was made? Getting it now is a few orders of magnitude more difficult with it being explosive and all if mishandled.
Do you intend to relight it?

Yep this is a carbide bike lamp. Back in the earlier days carbide lamps could be found just about everywhere from bikes motorcycles cars and even some trains had them. These were used beacuse carbide lamps put off a much brighter light than a regular kerosene lamp does. I know how hard it can be to get the carbide fuel for it and i havent got any yet but i plan to get some in time. And yes i do plan to get this working again :]
