Completely forgot to post this yesterday when I did uploads. ^.^'
So, its not really Furry art but I wanted to share it anyway, as I do have an interest in scenery and fantasy settings. This is part of a three piece set I'm making for my mom to go in an empty frame she has. It can be hung vertical or horizontal and she wants to hang it vertical, so I needed to make it something that would be tall vs. wide. Instantly thought of a tree, with a swamp setting below (she lives in Louisiana) and maybe some elven houses among the branches. She has no idea of the concept and won't see these until all three are finished, which may take a while. But at least the first part is done, and the other two are penciled in so far.
My major resolution for 2024 is to no longer rush myself on personal projects. And what that means is if something takes me three or four months to finish, then that's when I finish it. If I go a month without posting a single thing for myself, then that's just how it has to be. I have been very strict on myself in the past to make sure I'm always pushing content of my own characters, sticking to a 2-per-month schedule, and unfortunately this is just very stressful and causes me to hate making art at all. The downside of doing commissions full time means you basically have very little time or energy for your own ideas, so you have to squeeze in what you can, when you can. I do manage to set aside a week between commission queues for myself but sometimes I'm just so mentally wiped out that I don't want to work on art at all.
So, sadly, a lot of my characters and ideas won't ever make it to the paper. I am trying to be more open to just making what I feel like making, and worrying less about whether or not all of my characters make regular appearances. Aside from Luthien and Maraschino, the rest are just background characters and I don't think anyone really misses them if I don't draw them hardly ever. I haven't got much to flesh them out anyhow so sometimes I don't even know what to draw to feature them. But I can have a handful of ideas for something completely unrelated just swimming around in my head, and those are the ideas I want to start actually using for my art.
And that's where we end up with things like this. I do like making gift art for family, usually for birthdays, and sometimes I feel like making stuff related to games I play. So you guys might see some really random things coming from me this year. I also have some other big art-related news but I'm not quite ready to make that announcement yet. ;)
