They cleaned up for awhile, they're pretty much exhausted in the "Fatigue" painting.
Agents are NOT meant to handle the immediate threat. They're there to investigate what's going on and if it's an active hostile, they would have to call the "Eliminator" squad to take care of it. They barely made it.
