If you were female, which your profile states you're not, that would be another strike against you in weight management because most of the dimorphism between men and women is to keep the woman alive long enough to either birth or keep the kids alive.
If you are of 'native' Malaysian descent, that's a major strike genetically for weight management. Simply because like many native east asian and native american lines. your peoples were only recently exposed to nutrient and energy rich westernized diet. You're genetics are still geared just enough towards the 'very' few feast and 'many' famine hunting and gathering lifestyle compared to the slightly more feast than famine agricultural lifestyle to constant feast that western lines have had centuries of self adaptation to adjust too.
So your body will greedily hold onto 'every' extra calorie it can, thinking a famine is just around the corner. After all, in just a scenario a little extra chub may mean you'll survive longer between meals.
Gene expression is also working against you otherwise known as epi-genetics and this is the cause of the western obesity epidemic. To put it simply if your great grandparents, grandparents, or even parents experienced famine or famine like conditions during the formative years of their reproductive organs. I.E. just before or at the start of puberty. the genes responsible that native populations have to fight against to keep a healthy weight, long since turned off by an adaption to an agricultural more feast than famine lifestyle. get turned back on. making their children, grand children, and great grand children susceptible to obesity. Which if you trace the lines of the people suffering from this despite all efforts to the contrary to stay thin. you would see they had grand parents or great grand parents who went through either severe world war rationing or the dust bowl and great depression.

Downside of having a broken metabolism: weight is easy to gain, hard to lose.
Upside of having a broken metabolism: a single decent meal lasts me a couple days, reducing food expenses.
Being in the latter camp has its drawbacks, for sure, but I don't envy the price tag on that pile of food that the former is making disappear.

I'm not sure if it's intentional but soft drinks contain so much more that adds to weight gain than solid food, lot because our body doesn't give us any signals that we had enough already with liquid food and many of them are made to make you more thirsty & hungry. Also eating with other people makes us want to eat more.. and tall people need so much more food it looks crazy in comparison.
