Chapter 22 - Lick Your Wounds
<<< PREV | FIRST | NEXT >>>
Flopsy really does not like spending time around Falk, due to that cigar smoke. Can't say I blame her, I wouldn't want to end up black and yellow. (Falk HAS been trying to cut down, and also only smoke outside, but Flopsy has a much more sensitive nose than the humans around her. Steps like that can only do so much.)
She's also getting pretty overwhelmed, with everyone wanting her to be in charge, be the expert, be the "Hero", be the one who knows what's going on. It's been building for a while, but now there's just so much being piled on her shoulders at once, and she just has no idea what to do. Maybe it's time she finally start reading these "comics book" things, see if there's useful advice in there?
Right before the convention, Zach sorta "volunteered" Flopsy to meet with his mom as "The Superbunny". Even though she didn't make the promise, she still feels kinda bound by it, so she went ahead with the meeting. Good news, she doesn't hate The Superbunny anymore! Bad news, she is really upset with that Flopsy girl. ...Yay?
We finally get to meet the mysterious Samantha! It was tempting to make her a real witch like her namesake, but in the end, I thought it'd be funnier to have her think she knows magic but not actually know it. She's just a sixteen year old girl, going through her wicca phase while also being a cowgirl in Colorado. "Goth Cowgirl" works surprisingly well, I think.

Possibly! I never really was good at handling coffee, alcohol, or tobacco smoke, myself. The last one was especially bad, as both parents were HEAVY smokers when I was growing up. I don't know if it's some sort of "overcorrection" once I no longer had to put up with it, but if there's ANY of that smell in the air, I can practically not breathe at all. Just can't force my lungs to let any air in, even though I'm blacking out and nearly falling over, trying to get out of the area to get to a safe spot. I usually just tell people I'm allergic at this point, at least THAT gets respected... >.<
Flopsy has a slightly less severe reaction to it than I do, which is lucky.
Coffee isn't that intolerable, but it can be headache-inducing and just really annoying. There was a week or so when I was in Missouri, where I had a roommate drop the ball on getting internet service set up. So I ended up spending about a week or so walking down to a coffee shop to use their wifi, because the campus was closed I think. At least I assume there was some reason I didn't just go there. I actually started bringing a spare shirt to keep inside my bag, so I could change out so I didn't have to smell coffee grounds on the walk home.
