Their magical constructs that can change how hard/soft/stretchy they can get. They make up the shape of the body. Certain constructs are much softer and more flexible and stretchy then others. They can crack or break a part of their construct but can heal themselves (with a lot of magic). But they can rely on an Orderly Lapifae if they are too low on magic.
Their magic is a liquid that is inside the constructs (stronger in the horn) and their core is their life and it generates the liquid magic. Magic drains very slowly in everyday life. But using spells drains it faster. They sleep to regain their magic. Caffeine is made by plants enchanted by Lapifae magic to artificially help regain their magic faster. Babies are fed using very highly caffeinated formulas. They do not need to eat/drink because their magic keeps them alive. But eating and drinking feels pleasurable. The food/drink gets absorbed into the magic but doesnt add anything of value. Lapifae have no organs.
The strongest of their liquid magic is in their horn. Breaking the horn causes the magic to leak out (at first). But because of the lack of horn, they are unable to use their magic. It is tied directly to their core so it will damage the core as well if broken. Lapifae with broken horns need special enchanted objects to stay alive. They act as a serogate horn and helps the core create more magic. Horns will slowly grow back taking around 10 years to fully grow back.
When pregnant, a Lapifae can have up to 6 kits in a litter. Their magical core develops first before the magical liquid that floats around the core until the baby is able to start rapidly materializing their constructs, skin and fur. It takes a month from conception to birth for a Lapifae kit to fully develop.
