With special thanks to
lynxbrush for this absolutely phenomenal piece! This is the first commission I've gotten from her in ages and what a choice for a first piece. Holy shit. She really went above and beyond anything I could have expected to capture this unique reinterpretation of such an iconic scene from the original film as well as my characters and the heavenly wonder that is the Circle of Life at work!

Makali always struggled with figuring out his place. Even as a cub, he was never the biggest, strongest, smartest nor most popular. The last born of his parents' second litter, his future role within the pride - both within the Pride Lands or even within his parents' birth prides - was never as clear-cut. And so it was this struggle that often led him to gaze over the ledge of Pride Rock at the world below him. Enthralled and uncertain.
It was on one of these day that Jabari found his youngest son contemplating his self-worth. And o on that twilight hour that the great Lord of the Lion Guard imparted onto his son one of the most important lessons he could give as a father.
It was okay to not know the answers now.
It was okay for the future to be a blank slate. That was a tapestry of limitless potential.
When the time came? The Great Kings would guide him and he would be exactly where he needed to be. What was important now was to live life not with worry, but with happiness. To savour each moment and to do good for one's self and their community. For while earthly eyes may be led astray....
Heaven's eyes see the worth in every creature, within the Great Circle of Life.

"So how do you measure the worth of a lion?
In wealth or strength or size?
In how much he gained-
Or how much he gave?
The answer will come....
The answer will come to him who tries,
To look at his life through heaven's eyes!"
