The Bryn Walters 80's version actually scared me as a kid watching the vhs of the stage show

I've got mixed feelings about video adaptations of Broadway musicals (as a thespian, I'm practically obligated to say that the stage production is always better, though that statement's demonstrably true either way), but I do have a soft spot for the 1998 recorded performance of Cats -- besides being a good show, it was intended to capture as much of the theatre's magic as possible, so it still feels like a Broadway show that you can enjoy for a much lower price.
