Draven couldn't shake the feeling that something was off about the jobs he'd been getting, and regretted joining a so called "agency" more and more with every scripted response and form letter when he asked for more info on his targets. Playing the muscle grunt and threatening washed up retirees from the fight circuit for gambling debts was a far cry from the exciting smuggler's life he used to enjoy.
He decided to take matters into his own hands, and as a contract based job he was free to refuse any job if he chose. After a few weeks of taking more fulfilling independent work, he came home one night just in time to see a shadow ducking out to the fire escape. Whether it was an industry rival or just some punk that picked the wrong apartment, Draven was fully prepared to beat some respect into the intruder. He vaulted the balcony ignoring the ladder and followed the clap of footfalls down the alley.
He was always just behind enough to see a shape or shadow turn a corner, Draven didn't even realize the city had so many alleyways and back roads as he persistently chased after the would be burglar. He finally turned what had to be the 50th corner and there was no further sign of the runaway, Draven couldn't even catch the distinct scent from his balcony as he slowed to a walk down the narrow path. He realized he was behind the Calico Lounge, one of Fat Felix's collection of seedy clubs and casinos. Draven wrinkled his nose, the only thing dirtier than the floors was the staff, and Fat Felix was the type you avoided whenever possible. If the mystery burglar had ducked in there, he was headed for worse than anything Draven would have done.
Palming his blasters out of habit Draven turned on his heel, "Last thing I need is to chase some junkie into a load of Felix's bullshit..." Draven turned to see a strange red cube floating through the air, immediately feeling his fur stand on end. He saw a second one appear slightly lower than the first and they seemed to glow brighter as they got closer. He didn't know what they were, but everything in him was screaming to blast now and ask questions later- ZZZAAPPPP!! Red lightning arced out of both cubes immediately paralyzing the Violet Hunter as they drew closer until his body was no longer under his control.
Draven dropped both of his pistols as his body levitated in a fit of spasms caught in the crimson tendrils. The shocks contorting his body didn't take long to render the purple clad Panther unconscious and reduce him to a flapping ragdoll before finally releasing him long enough to collapse in a twitching heap. He swayed in the foggy headspace at the cusp of sweet darkness just long enough to hear a low mirthful chuckle to his left. "Junkie? Now you're just being rude..."
