And I am back, this time with a weapon design.

This one came about because I ended up realizing that Kätsrìl doesn't have a weapon assigned to her when she arrives on Pandora as a fresh rookie. It posed a problem.

Kät, by default, is a liability, and hostile. So the RDA would want to arm her in a way where she is both unable to cause too much damage if she goes rogue, but also do enough damage that those Recoms who have to endure her presence aren't hindered.

The result? A large gun that fires 1 shot, then needs a lengthy reload. From this came the RG-30 (RailGun 30mm).
Chambering 30mm slugs in conductive discarding sabots, this massive behemoth of a gun is designed with Kät in mind, and as a testbed for portable railgun technology. It uses unobtanium as the conductive elements in the rails due to its superconductive properties, along with an experimental battery to power it all. It's a Direct Current system, and relies exclusively on the battery for everything to function. Even the firing mechanism relies on it, as it uses an electromagnet in the bolt to hold the sabot in place until the tigger is pulled, the H-gate reverses the Current, making the magnet reverse polarity and pushes the sabot into the firing chamber. Here the sabot acts at the conductive element that completes the circuit and the railgun fires.
By using the magnetic bolt, it means the ammo is caseless, outside of the discarding sabot.

Detailed as well is the reload procedure Kät needs to go through, a 7 step process after each shot. However, the power she holds is so that one slug can punch all the way through a Hammerhead Titanothere. So basically, when she pulls the trigger, everyone knows where she is, and whatever her sight is trained on is deleted. Her marksmanship isn't superb, but the sheer muzzle velocity compensates. The kick is immense though, and why it has such a massive recoil compensating system in the buttstock.

So the current drawbacks are weight, complexity, slow rate of fire, and sheer kick. However, it is also possible that the magnetic elements can be messed with by magnetic forces on Pandora.
