They're dealing with gravity drives right now, Vix currently exists in a superposition where she is (from our perspective) both walking with them and fiddling with the engine at the same time.

This is a unique situation.Theres a whole bunch of people who can overclock things which is great until it causes it to break.Ive done a ton of repairing and calling for new parts cause of this n,.n;

Overclocking and optimizing aren't the same though... Optimizing is efficiency Overclocking is pushing beyond what it should do.
Here is hoping Vix only Optimized.

If she's anything like most of the geniuses I know, it's not really an act. My best friend from middle school, for example, currently works at CERN as an assistant investigator. But he also is the kind of guy that once took a bad hit in a youth league hockey game, and after his recovery from the ensuing concussion described to me in the most cheerful manner the "odd" sensation of his skull deforming from the impact.

The moment you realize being an airhead and being a genius aren't mutually exclusive.

It's a funny thing, some of the smartest people I know are also the ones that have the least common sense. And I wouldn't really describe it as "airheadedness" per se, but an unrelenting inability to shut off that part of their brain that says, "Oh, this is really interesting/weird/fun!"

Vix has me chuckling here. Reminds me of the bunch I hung out with as a teenager - geniuses all, and unabashed tinkers and experimenters. And also utterly lacking in this thing we call "common sense." IIRC, she's already cheerfully described the sensations of an injury - something one of my friends had a penchant for. And she's not the greatest at knowing when NOT to apply all that specialized knowledge, as evidenced by this.

She's absolutely the sort that you genuinely know isn't stupid, but you really wonder how she's managed to stay alive so far. Very nostalgic for me. XD
