Well done, but you are right, slightly off in proportions.
Three measurements: Head to Chest, Head to Hips. Chest to Hips, Should all be close to the same size.
His head seems larger than his waist.
Also if you ever need to look at a piece in a new way, use a mirror. It will shed light on your problems.
Overall though, quite well done, I like the style and the pencil work and subject. :)
