First quickie whack at doing the fade. Combination of lowering saturation and gradually adding sepia. I've got a much better technique in mind now, hey, as I say, first quickie whack.

Have you ever tried making a... uhm... I think it's called HDR picture... It's where you take several pictures of the same area with different settings on the camera(one to get shadows, one to get no shadows, one to get a clear sky, one to get details out etc), and then you merge them to get a really cool 3d effect:)
I don't know how they do that, but i would SO like to learn that:)
This is a HDR of a sunset, random from google:p

Yes I have actually, just one quick try and well, you need the right scene to do it to and that hasn't come up in the few days since I ran across this technique. I first ran into it via these pictures, first is reg, second HDR.

Well, I just Wiki'd it and went from there. If your camera has a bracket setting... You need multiple pictures from different settings of course but well, oi, too much. Just follow the Wiki links and RTFM from there! We've had overcast skies for the last few so I haven't been able to try it.
