A 2024 design update for my character Thresh, half sister to Toby.
And just a little writing I did to go with it, adding to the other writings I did for Gavin, Meep, Toby.
There's one more of these I want to do.
"Look at that idiot," Thresh mumbles as she snarls at said idiot up ahead, "Thinks he can pretend we're no threat."
Walking next to her Meep looks--Gavin's leaning over the porch railing. He's holding a splintered chunk of wood, taping it slowly on his shoulder and not looking interested in them approaching. "Hm," Meep shoves her hands in her jacket pockets, "Maybe he's not up for a fight?"
"Pft! Yeah right. That jackass?" Thresh tightens her grip on her rusty crowbar, "He's going to answer to me whether he likes it or not!"
"Yo!" Gavin shouts, "Get off my lawn! Dirty ass rats!"
"Funny." Thresh points her crowbar at him, "Why don't you come down here and make us?"
"Sorry. I don't take orders from bitches," He looks away and yawns, mightily, as if bored of hearing her voice.
"You fucker--!" She ran ahead, jumping the porch steps, bolting straight for him, her arm swinging down her crowbar.
"Oh boy." Meep watched Gavin sidestep, his arm a blur when it swung. The two weapons collided with a sound of snapping wood and Thresh cursing between her teeth. He shoves forward, pushing her back. "When you need me to tag in!" Meep shouts, "Just let me know!"
Thresh, quickly, flashed her a thumbs-up before pulling her crowbar back. She crouches, swinging for Gavin's leg, in hopes he'd jump to the side. He did. But he beats her in speed. Suddenly behind her, he slashes her back. The wood scraps across her shoulder blades, and she growls out "Fuck you!", twisting to meet his next swing, clashing weapons once more.
"You call this a fight?" Gavin spits to the side, "This is--" she lunges forward, throwing her arms around his abdomen. They crash to the ground, the splintered wood scratching her face as she fell.
Meep ran to the steps. She watches the two bodies in a fighting scramble, Thresh's crowbar sliding away, and Gavin's wood-bat sent flying off. "Uh...guys, you're not really getting anywhere."
"Just--one--sec," Thresh hisses, desperately trying to keep him from getting on top, using her body like a paperweight on his leaner body, he spits out a growl, saying something she wasn't listening to, "I'll--get checkmate--" she hooks her arm around his throat, steeling her muscles.
With a chest-deep, pissed-off, growl Gavin stood up, Thresh hanging on by his neck, and threw himself backwards, crushing her against the wooden deck. Her arm loosed for a split moment--he took the opening, spun around, and, with a dumbass smirk--spit a large one in her face.
"Arrgh! Sick!" She shoves him off, wiping her face on her jacket sleeve, "You're so disgusting!"
In a sudden motion, she felt something smash at her face, sending her crashing through the railing. She lands on her back in the dry grass, stunned, unable to even form a yelp, the breath knocked right out of her.
"Tsk, tsk, tsk," Gavin wiggles his finger down at her, "Left yourself wide open bitch. Come back when you have an ounce of skills," He side-glances Meep, "And you?"
"Ah--no, no, I'm good," She hurries over to her friend, leaning over, the hazy light behind her casting her face in shadows, "You good? You didn't ask for me to jump in sooo..."
"Just...help...me...up." Thresh growls back.
