Phoenix Wolf Color

As promised in my previous post, here is the color version of the piece I did for Lord Kage. As much as I liked the penciled version, I think these colors improved the image quite a bit. Lord Kage suggested these hues and I think he did a good job. Both color contrast and color harmony show up in this artwork.

Much appreciated, Shade. I make a great deal of use of complimentary colors, going directly to opposites on the color wheel. This can yield surprisingly subtle results, if I can pull it off.

Very cool color choices here. I like how the flames emerge from the wolf and seem to connect with the phoenix. Also like the choice of a blue color for most of the phoenix. Overall, a very cool and interesting piece with suggests a lot of story and character behind it.

That's some gorgeous color and composition, Susan. The blues and purples are unusual for a phoenix but they really, really work.

His expression is a bit unusual. I can't see from here if he's smiling or not.
With his ears laid back like that he definitely looks like he's up to something.
And, his connection to that Phoenix isn't helping him look innocent.

The first thought that came to mind was "spirit animal."

This is beautiful. And I love the different usage of "cool" colors in it.
