i've been drawing these guys for  gargalesis a lot and realized i didn't have a ref of their color patterns, so i doodled some when i had the time.
the darker areas are more sensitive and secrete more defensive oil. on a practical survival level, this tells a group how to get a lot of oil out of each other when they get scooped up by a carnivorous plant. and on a fun level they are also simply a convenient chart of themselves
