Name: Boitatáráma (Tupi Meaning: One who will become a fiery serpent)
Species: Piraiba Catfish
Age: 21 Years
Anatomy Specifics:
-Length: Approximately 10.5 Feet
-Weight: Approximately 450 Pounds
-Overall Structure: Large-bodied, heavily built, lateral line and ‘ribs’ are very visible
-Appearance Notes: Various small scars on his topside in the area between his eyes and dorsal fin from a harpy eagle attack
Color Specifics:
- Overall very natural coloring
- Upper half of body is a dark grey/almost black
- Lower half of body (Including lips, barbells, all lower fins and bottom half of tail) is a slight off-white
- Membrane on upper body fins and tail is a lighter shade of grey than the upper body
- Membrane on lower body fins is pinkish-white
- Eye color is a bright golden/yellow, stands out against the rest of his body
Character History/Personality:
As for his personality, he's almost entirely solitary. The only other critter he talks to is my dragon scalesona.
The reason for this is that he was attacked by a harpy eagle, an obvious predator of a small catfish, while he was young. He managed to escape its grasp and dive, but it left him pretty mangled (Source of his scarring).
Injured and exhausted, he beached himself and was conveniently found by my dragon scalesona. She tended to some of his wounds, found him a bite to eat and gave him some encouraging words. She also gave him his name, Boitatáráma, which means the one who will become a fiery serpent. She did this as a source of encouragement since he had been on the verge of possible death, suggesting that one day he would become a legend of the Amazon, just like the legendary dragon of Amazonian folklore, Boitatá. With some new found hope and a new name, Boit left the shoreline and parted ways with his new 'friend.'
A few years later, Boit was as his full grown size when he crossed paths with my dragon again. She had been flying over the Amazon River fishing and almost attacked him, but realized who he was and stopped herself (causing her to crash land in the water with him ;D )
They swam around together, telling each other of their passed years and such. Their friendship was rekindled.
Now, my dragon scalesona is sort of a high ranking officer in an army, and so she asked a favor of him -- to play a role as her eyes in the Amazon River. He would be a sort of spy for her army, keeping her updated on the workings of the rainforest world. He agreed and they parted ways again, but Dragon often visits him for updates to see what's happening in the Amazon.
So technically, he's sort of a spy. He swims the entire length of the Amazon, day in and day out, watching below the waves and along the shores. He sees all that happens on the banks, he knows all the creatures of the region, and he's traversed all over South America.
Other creatures have caught on to the role he plays, and as he's aged, they've developed a sort of respect for him. They often call him "The All Seeing Eye," "Eyes In The Amazon," or "Big Brother," references to his spy-like nature. Others who know the meaning of his real name, or tribes-people that catch glimpses of the large and elusive beast, sometimes just call him a Dragon.
Local Amazonian tribes have tried again and again to catch the distinctly large piraiba, whose wisdom has allowed him to live to a healthy age for piraibas and an incredibly notable size. All have failed, and will continue to fail. Boit is one of the wisest river monsters still alive and trekking the Amazon River.
He's gentle-natured and will talk to most anyone, but he avoids letting anything or anyone get too personal with him except for my scalesona. He always reports his findings to her and in return, Dragon's other eyes in the Amazon (She has other spies, jaguars, harpy eagles, pythons, but he's the only fish which is why he plays a vital role) help protect him from being caught or killed.

It's a quote from the book 1984. Boit is prettymuch a spy that lives in the Amazon, but rather than have a particularly mission, he just kind of watches over everyone and everything and reports it back to my 'sona. He is what she calls her "Eyes in the Amazon" and I felt like the title of "Big Brother" applied because he sees everything and reports it to a higher authority.
